"Ow! Stop those meteo attacks!"

Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension was the final Dragon Ball Z fighter released for the Super Famicon, the game tried to take advantage of the Super Famicon's power, and it seemed it succeeded. Many things look very neat in this game, and very nice looking attacks.

Graphics(10/10) - Right off the bat, you will notice that the graphics look great. The game uses the SA-1 chip of the Super NES, and it creates a great looking game. The courts look great, and characters move smoothly and look excellent. Special attacks look extremely excellent, and are great eye-pleasers.

Gameplay(9/10) - You might think you are going to see another Super Butoden game, but think again. This game uses a much different style than any of the Super Butoden games. They dumped the old energy bar and HP bar, and just formed them into one. When you do special attacks, a number of your hit points are drained, and your character performs the attack. While this may seem bad, you can recharge your lost HPs, so you cant worry about anything.
This game also uses a different fighting engine, they destroyed the split screen system, and made it more Street-Fighter styled. You can knock characters into other arenas, and smash them right into the air and have a fight in the air. All the characters in this game have their special moves from the show, and you can even pull off moves that you can only pull off when you are low on hit points, which do immense and PAINFUL damage to the opponent. There are 10 characters to choose from, which each have different fighting styles, and different moves.

Music(8/10) - The music in this game is pretty good, there are fast-paced tunes, and music that is frantic and intense. Really sets the mood for certain fights, great music.

Sound(10/10) - The music in this game is excellent!
There are voice samples that sound like the characters from the shows, explosions and special attacks sound excellent. Punches and kicks sound real. You wont want to turn the sound down for this game.

Game Control(10/10) - Controls work perfectly, there are tons of combos you can pull off. And all characters move well.

Story (9/10) - There isn't any problems with the story. The story follows the Freezer Saga to the Majin Buu saga.

Replay Value(7/10) - The replay value is decent in this game. After you complete the story mode, there are Tenkachi Budokai tournaments, which allow up to 8 players. And there are VS. Matches, which let you configure the strength and HP power of the fighters, very excellent. If your a lone player, there might not be much to do.

Overall (9/10) - This game has everything you want from a fighter. There is fast-paced action, tons of combos for every character. And there are many things to do, you can set challenges for yourself, and the Tenkachi Budokai addition is always a great add-on. You do NOT want to miss this if you are a Dragon Ball fan, and enjoy fighting games.

Buy or Rent? - Get this game if you can. You do not want to miss it, if you are lucky, you can find this game for $60 or $50 bucks.
