Review by Dark Dragon

"Don't buy this dont even rent it! The PC version was hella better!"

In the days when the Snes was hot, there were many splendid games to choose from. Some better then other....some not.
Wolf 3D showed the good people of the world what a first person shooter was all about. And as a experienced player I'd say it was a grand first attempt. But after it's release on the PC, Snes wanted to join in on the money making experience. And boy did they screw it up!

Graphics-(3-10)
Now I know the game is now older then dirt by now but still
the Snes ruined the graphics that held the name of the PC's version on high. In the PC version the soldiers yelled out in German, (e.g.-Heil Hitler) they also had blood come out of their dead bodies when shot. In the Snes version the soldiers yelled out ''Hey stop'' or something dumb like that. Plus they did not bleed, all the flags had stupid ''+'' instead of the swastika. Hitler's armband with the swastika was taken out and Hitler did not have his famous mustache. The graphics looked poor and ugly. The levels looked the same and the evil dogs o' doom were turned into mutated freak-rats. So as you can tell Snes screwed up in this department.

Music/Sound-(2-10)
The music was...I guess trying to be dark and spooky but after about five minutes of it you had your speakers on mute! The music was lame and like all old games, crappy midi stuff. The sound effects were no better. The guns sounded like a person throwing stones onto cement, or maybe a small fire-cracker one or the other. The soldiers which in the PC version spoke German now speak English and sounded lame and dumb. So this is yet another department that failed to grab the player's interest.

Gameplay-(4-10)
Now this may possibly be the only good part about this game. Seeing that the style made you feel as if you were the hero, made the game different and cool. The levels were all flat so there was no hassle trying to make super-hard jumps across a pit full of pissed off guards and angry mutated freak-rats. You just simply move with the D-pad and shoot with the B button I believe. This department of development could not have gotten screwed up even if it were a bunch of little toddlers making the game. (And strangely when you play this...you do tend to question the intelligence of the developers!)

Rent or Buy?
Well take it from a guy who owns both the PC version (Which is hella better!) and also the Snes version, (Boo to Nintendo, you ruined a golden game!) rent or maybe just stay away from the Snes version and so totally buy the PC version...that is if you can still find that game now-a-days.
