EVO - The Search for Eden

"Nice idea......bad product of that idea!"

Well what is this game about? Before i even start i can say that EVO is no't an RPG! It's more of a adventure/sidescroller!

Gaia gave you a mission, save the world and evolve from a primitive fish like creature to a human (You go through most animals like Elephant, Dinosaur, Monkey....) you gather special points which in the end allow you to evolve, you can evolve your: Jaws, Hands and Feet, Body, Neck, Head and so on..... choosing the right evolution path is cruical! You also meet creatures on your way to victory some of them give you usefull things like Information or maybe some Items.

When you first start the game you se a overworld map just like the one in Super Mario World and you se a path and levels Red level buttons indicate the places where you can't go to yet and yellow blinking buttons indicate places which you can wisit! Once you are in a level it looks like a traditional plattform game. To go back to the evolution part, you can combine different evolution types to either get a more powerfull creature or just for fun! (Combine a mouse head with the body of a rhino! :-)

GRAPHICS: Quite nice actually, characters are well made and look somewhat like the real creature. But some backgrounds and levels are quite boring actually. 6/10

SOUND: Nah.....you will not even notice the sound unless you listen......its that boring! Some tunes are okay but overall quite bad!

GAMEPLAY: Now here is the part where the game looses! When you control the creature it can sometimes feel hopeless! You get hit you bounce back and it takes some time to recover, during that time enemy can totally rip you apart! So controlls are downright nasty i must say! 2/10

STORY: Well it aint gonna get more advanced than ''Gaia sent you out on a mission to evolve in to a human and enter the Garden or Eden, and to destroy evil!'' The creatures you meet give you some info but no twist to the story at al!

OVERALL: This is one of the worst games from Enix, a nice idea but it is very short very difficult to controll and overall quite boring. If you want a game with animals go for Donkey kong or Ecco this game is just for people who have played every good game for the 16 bit consoles and want to move on to the lower levels.
