"It's despicable, disgusting, and an abomidation...that this game didn't make it to the U.S."
I knew it for quite a while, but I didn't want to believe it. The fact of the matter was, it was true: there was a Megaman game (or Rockman if you're Japanese) that I had not played. So, I packed up what little supplies I had, slung them over my trusty horse, and began a long journey to find...
Rockman and Forte.
After years of wading through dank swamps and camping out in haunted forests, I finally arrived at Mt. Goliwayalapoochanicknick, the home of the last known copy of this fabled game. I delved deep into the volcanic mountain, and in the core sitting on a high platform was Rockman and Forte, in all its glory. I snatched it up and had to navigate the various traps and pitfalls that I set off by taking the game, until I made it out of there before the Mountain erupted and destroyed half of the world.
When I arrived home one year later, I found that there were many copies available on Ebay. I didn't flip out or anything like that, because what I went through was worth it.
Megaman 2 was my favorite game that featured the blue bomber, and now, this one is. Now that my burn scars acquired from the Mt. Goliwayalapoochanicknick eruption have healed, I shall review this game.
Graphics- 10
These are amazing to say the least. I cannot believe that these are SNES (or Super Famicom if you're Japanese) visuals. This looks like it was taken right out of an anime style cartoon like Pokémon (Pocket Monsters if you're Japanese.) These are truly splendid, and it makes it seem like a good idea to release a couple games for a console after its ''death'', just so you can show off it's REAL capabilities.
Human Equivalent- the WWF's X-Pac
Sound- 10
Even though it's a completely MIDI soundtrack, it still sound awesome. The music is very well timed and orchestrated, a rareity in most of today's games. The soundtrack is one of those ones that you just have to listen to rather than just turn up your stereo for some tunes of your own.
Human Equivalent- Robin Beanland or any other Rare composer
Gameplay- 10
This is awesome. I love this game. What more do I have to say? First off, you get to select from either Megaman or Bass (Forte if you're Japanese). Then, you battle your way through numerous level and bosses (all of which pose a great difficulty) before finally coming face to face with...Dr. Wily (Dr. Wiry if you're Japanese). It's fast, fun, and it even has its own built in save function, so you don't have to write down all those passwords.
Human Equivalent- Jesus (Jebus if you're Homer Simpson)
In Closing
Get this game if you are remotely considering becoming interested in videogames. This game is great. Capcom could have made a lot of money bringing this to the states, even as a PSX title. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to swap myself with Neosporin before I begin my journey to find Sin and Punishment.
