Looney Tunes B-Ball
Review by lufia22
"Fun but hard!"
This game is terribly hard but it is terribly fun! The game has a few weaknesses that could definitely make this game greater.
Story: No story here. I'm not rating it because the story that is there is pretty much crap and it isn't really a real story any ways. A little scene when you cut on your game will show Bugs challenging Daffy to a game of b-ball and then the ball that is on the floor turns into a ''dog-ball'' and runs away. Pretty random, eh?
Graphics 8/10: Not the best the SNES can do but fits the game properly. The worse part is that you can't see the ball very well so it is hard to line up your player with the ball to try and catch it or steal it. Plus it is hard to figure out where you need to be to hit another player.
Sound 8/10: The music isn't that memorable and isn't even noticeable. The SFX, however, are very crazy and good. They range from pies smacking in faces to the zap of a ray gun being shot. It's very funny to listen to some of the sounds.
Control 7/10: Supposedly there is a turbo button. I bought the game used so I don't know how to use it. But if there is one then maybe it would make the game a little more easier! Anyways, the control can be pretty good one time and a nightmare the other. Characters don't seem to respond all the time right when you push the button. For instance, you about to shoot; you press the button; but then like half a second later another player hits you causing you to lose the ball and get mad. Chasing the ''dog-ball'' around is terrible too. It's hard to chase the ball with the control it gives you.
Gameplay 7/10: The best part of the game...yet it is the worse. The game is incredibly hard. Even on difficulty one can I win with only maybe one to five points more than the computer. I can't imagine playing on difficulty ten! Basically you pass the ball and shoot the ball or try and hit the ball from a play and then grab it. You can choose different moves, like a time bomb ball or your characters special defense move. Each of these moves takes a different amount of money that you can get by collecting the jewels that appear on the court. Hitting the ball, chasing the ball, or catching the ball is terribly hard to do. For some reason the computer can dodge you trying to hit them easily. They can also chase the ball easily and catch the ball. You'd think on difficulty one it wouldn't be like this but it is. There are also different modes. One mode that stumps me how anyone could beat, is the tournament mode. You have to play it on difficulty five plus if you lose just ONCE you have to start all over. Since the game is so hard it's probably close to impossible. Also, one more bad thing, the character's stats don't seem to really reflect how they actually play on the court.
Replay 9/10: The difficulty takes away from the score. Playing with a friend is very fun though. I'd say the two player features redeem this game.
Buy or rent: Doubt you can rent it these days. I wish I knew a good place to buy old SNES games without them being way too overpriced. This game shouldn't be very expensive considering it isn't very well known.
Overall 8/10:(7.8 rounded up)
The high difficulty brought this game down from getting a solid eight. But since you can't use decimals on GFAQs then it gets and eight. It's a nice enjoyable game that is better for its two player modes. I'd have to say this is one of the best games for the SNES I have ever played.
