Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Ok, so this game has been out for several years, but a few days ago I found the game in a drawer and started playing it again. After doing so for several hours, I decided that I just had to review it...

The story and goal of the game is quite simple. Our planet has been taken over by a bunch of nasty monsters, most of which have been created by the evil Dr. Tongue. Most people have hidden from these beasts, but some morons have not. Now it's up to you to save them before the monsters kill them!
The main characters are called Zeke and Julie, and you're free to choose who you want to control. If you play with a friend, one of you play as Zeke, and the other one controls Julie. The only difference between the two characters are their looks and the color of their weapons and health bars. I prefer Zeke. With an impressive haircut and 3D-goggles, he's the toughest looking guy around!

To help you on your way, you have a bunch of awesome special weapons at your disposal. Soda cans work like grenades, and can take out several weaker enemies in one blow, the inflatable clowns can be used as decoys, the bazooka can blow up walls and hedges, and eliminate most monsters before they even notice you! Another useful weapon is the fire-extinguisher, which you can use to freeze your enemies!

The enemy line consists of zombies, evil dolls, spiders, lumberjacks, werewolves, mutated plants and other spooky creatures waiting to cut through our flesh! Of course, you'll also encounter some juicy bosses during the game...
Some of the enemies found in the game are taken from various horror movies. And that's not the only stuff borrowed from movies. Some of the locations and names of the levels are familiar as well.

Now to my personal opinion.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors is amazing! It combines action, humor and more action which results in a special experience not found in many other games.
There's one thing that I'm not too happy about, though. I want to be able to SAVE my game. Using passwords means losing all the items collected earlier...

Graphics: 8

Not very stunning, but the character design and level maps are so good that I really can't complain.

Sound: 9

Thrilling music and lovely sound effects. Turn up the volume, people!

Challange: 9

Lots of tricky levels and an impressive amounts of monsters, bosses and weapons.

Controls: 7

It's not perfect, but it serves it's purpose, I guess.

Gameplay: 10

Easy to learn, and very addictive. Yay!

Overall: 9

Wow. This game has everything! Love at first sight... This'll keep you going for a looong time.
