"Decent Game,,, too bad there's already 3 of them"
Before I start, I just have to point out that this is NOT Ultraman: Towards the Future. This game takes place in the original Ultraman timeline. The gist of it is that you are Ultraman, and you have to kill the invaders from outer space.
Gameplay: 6/10
Just like most of the SNES Ultraman fighting games. Smack em until the fireball meter reaches 4 (the highest), then shoot em when their life bar says ''finish''. Other than that, it could be better. Jumping is a pain, getting close to them without losing a lot of life is hard, getting them to ''finish'' is harder, and if you miss with the super fireball, you WILL want to destroy your Super Nintendo right on the spot. And you only have 3 minutes. It's the same in the TV series, but it would've been beter without it. Add that to the fact that Japan has 3 of these games. All exactly alike, except with different characters. It'll get tiring real fast.
Music/Sound: 5/10
The music really isn't anyhting to brag about. The tunes get tiring real fast. The sound isn't much better, getting repetitive even quicker. I'm giving this a 5 because the actual sounds and musics aren't bad... just annoying after a while.
Graphics: 7/10
Reasonably well done. Monsters and attacks look cool and well animated. Backgrounds are good too.
Story: 5/10
Well... you're Ultraman. You have to kill the aliens that threaten Earth. If they explained the story more, I'd have given it a higher grade. When the game starts, you're just tossed in there, with no explanation of who you are. The ending's pretty god though. Sort of a kicker, in fact.
Fun Factor: 4/10
I'm sorry. I love the series, but my god! Annoying music and sound, gameplay that could have come out of a blender, and ho-hum story, you'll wanna steer clear unless you're an Ultraman otaku.
Rent-Buy
Like I said. Fan, buy. Casual gamer, rent (if you can find it. It's pretty rare, considering the original series was bordcaster a loooong time ago.) Impatient (and or irritable) person, stay away, and prod this with a sharp burning stick.
Overall Rating: 6/10
Honestly, this game has it's strong points, but they're overshadowed by the bad. If you're used to the way of combat though, give it a try.
