"Have you heard of this game? No? Good..."
When I was younger, I received Chuck Rock as a present from my parents. Although I never played this game before, I thought ''What the heck. I'll give it a shot''. So, I pulled out my Final Fantasy III game pack and inserted Chuck Rock into the slot. When I turn it on, I laugh at the intro (a group of cavemen playing a song). This makes me eager to dive into the world of Chuck. When the first level arrives, I'm ready. As I play through the level, my hopes plunged down back into the ground. The game was a SNES version of Caveman Games. The difficulty was way too hard. For example, my friend couldn't get past the first level and I couldn't beat the third.
-Gameplay (5/10): While the controls aren't too hard to learn, the game doesn't really respond well to them. Your weapon was your stomach, which you bounced to attack enemies. Also, the game was based on humor (Caveman Games for NES) which made the companies that made this kind of reckless. It isn't the most fun game to play in the world.
-Graphics (9/10): The graphics are relatively good for the SNES, however, they aren't the best on the console.
-Sound (4/10): There really isn't much sound (except for the bouncing sound of your belly attacking an enemy). However, the little sound that you do have gets old REALLY FAST.
-Replayability (1/10): The difficulty makes it hard to beat the game, but even if you do, you probably wouldn't want to go through it all again.
-Buy or Rent?: I'd say neither, but some people might actually like this game so I'd rent it before buying it (unless you see it on sale for less that $2).
-Overall (4.75/10): This game wasn't the best on the platform. In fact, it probably wasn't one of the middle, lesser known yet cool games. However, it is enjoyable for a small period of time so try and find somewhere that still rents Super Nintendo Games and rent this, just to see how you like it. Heck, there may be people out there that actually love this game. However, I'm one of those people that are kind of in between liking it and hating it. Rent it and see for yourself how you like it.
