RockMan & Forte

"An good Mega-Man game to relax with."

First, let me tell you this. MegaMan 9 was never released in the US. Instead, the Japanese kept it all to themselves. Why that was done I have no idea. Anyway, this game is quite good and solid. It sees you, MegaMan and his new comrade, Forte as he is translated according to the japanese, exploring various levels, collecting CDs that hold information about the robots from the previous games and destroying evil robots that are being controlled by Dr. Wily. Of course, MegaMan and Forte have very different abilities. For instance, Forte can jump very high while MegaMan can slide under narrow spaces. This opens updifferent routes through the levels for each of these two characters.

The graphics in the game are much better than in the previous games, and considering that this game was released in 1998, it looks quite good. The bosses are simply hard, propelling you to find their weak spots and using weaponry from other robots to kill them. Also, you now have complete control over various gadgets to help you on your way like a CD tracker which, yes, tracks down CDs in the levels. But to get these tools you must buy them by collecting enough material to exchange for it. Also, you have to use your weapons to get past all kinds of barriers that hinder your way in the levels. F.E. let´s say you come across a huge pit of spikes. To get to the other side simply use your freezer to create a block of ice, allowing you to slide over.

The only problem with this game is that it´s both too short and linear. Although I haven´t found nearly all the CDs, it still doesn´t make me wanna go around the game for the 20th time, searching all over to find the remaining half. If the levels were bigger, and perhaps a bit more frustrating, then this would have been a much greater game. Although I am still surprized that Megaman hasn´t been out for the N64 yet...

Anyhow, this is a fun game. Ecspecially when you face the last bosses, then you´ll have to show how much you have actually been playing the game.
