Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Another Story
Review by StarryFire
"The best Sailor Moon game ever!"
Story (10):
I thought the story was absolutely great. I love how they made the game into chapters; and how each Sailor Scout had her own section where they went to another country. The game had a very interesting plot. I love how you can travel on the ark to different places on Earth in the past; and how you go to the future.
It's also really cool that there's two completely different endings. I didn't know that the first time I went through the game, though. When I found that out; I decided to go through the game again, just because I felt like it. I was having a horribly hard time, though, losing in the final battle. Since that is how you get the second ending. You have to lose with the first party; and then win with Sailor Mini Moon's party. Well, it took about a half hour for all 5 of my Sailor Scouts to finally die; and then I was so relieved; and I did get the second ending; and honestly I liked the second ending better than the first one. It's so sad... Anyway.
Gameplay (9):
Well, the gameplay was also great, of course. The one and only thing I hated about this game is that, well, when you walk around, monsters attack all the time, and it gets horribly annoying. I remember that, when I was trying to level up before fighting the dead moon sisters; I just set the game to its top speed (you can do that by pressing + on the keyboard; & - to slow it back down); and I just walked back and forth about a hundred times, getting attacked by a monster every half second or so; and in about 10 minutes we were all at level 40. I mean, it's good that you can level up and all; but it sucks how, like in the second chapter you can't walk from one town to another without being attacked by at least 10 monsters. But besides that; the game play is very good.
Battling (9):
Well, battling was my least favorite part of the game (since I was mainly into the story). Well, the animations in my opinion are very good; except the fact that some attacks have pretty uninteresting, little animations (though I really liked watching Rainbow Moon Heartache & Pink Sugar Heartache); and also that the monsters don't move at all. The battles can be hard sometimes; but for me for the first half of the game; I won every battle with 1 or 2 shots because I started the game with everyone at level 16. Anyway, it's also cool how they have the link attacks and the 5-Sailor Scout attacks; especially Sailor Victory Attack; it's very strong. But, unlike some people think, the link attacks are NOT stronger than, or even as strong as, the single ones. I used link attacks once in a while just for the heck of it; but they didn't usually do as much damage as regular ones. For the final enemy; Mercury Aqua Mirage, Pink Sugar Heartache, Sailor Pluto's Cyclone (I had to put 'Sailor Pluto's' because if I wrote the name of the attack it didn't let me save it), and Death Reborn Revolution did a whole lot of damage; and Neptune & Mars's attacks did almost nothing.
Animation (9):
Well, the animation was great; I loved the way they did the landscapes & stuff for different places, I especially loved how the Moon Kingdom looked (before it was destroyed, of course). The character animations were also very good; though I got annoyed by the fact that, for ex., in one town there was 10 people that looked exactly the same. Besides that, it was good.
Audio (10):
I think the music was great. I loved the sad music they played during the second ending. I think the music always suited the situation perfectly.
Challenge (10):
Yes, the game was very hard at times; and needs a lot of leveling up; but that's good I guess, since it's not good if it's too easy.
Replay (9):
Actually, unlike other people who rated this game, I think this game has very good replay. I've gone through it almost 3 times, and I'm still not bored of it at all. The first time I went through it, it took me 4 months... I could not get through battling the villain in Mercury's section; and when I finally won it turned out that you had to battle her again. So I started the game over, using the cheat where everyone's at level 16. The second time I went through it, it took almost a whole day & night; I was going through it with my friend & each of us was reading out loud what certain characters were saying; it was a lot more fun that way. So we went through it in about 20 hours or so. And I still play it; I have it saved at 9 different spots; so I can start at whatever point I want. ^_^
Overall (10):
Though I gave it a 9 for most things; overall I still give this game a perfect 10, because even with its flaws, I think it's absolutely great. I love it!
