Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures
Review by Alain Garamonde
"Crack That Whip..."
Indiana Jones happens to be one of my favourite movie heroes of all time, only behind my favourite - James Bond. After playing Goldeneye for the N64, I saw that it was slightly different from the movie. And when I saw Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures on the shelf one day, I wanted to see if any of the films complied into this game were any different. It turns out that very little is changed. Overall, I liked this game. Now, onto the review...
Graphics - 7/10
The graphics are good, but not all that great. The backgrounds are wonderful and varied, from a waterfall, caves, and to the sky. Video-game Indy looks like his movie counterpart, and the enemies all look great. Even the swordsman that Indy casually shoots with his pistol is in here! See all of your favorite Indy characters, from Marian Ravenwood to Rene Belloq, in video-game form. Portraits from the movies are good, but a tad pixelated.
Now, as for the looks of the levels... they GREATLY vary. Some stages are reminiscent of a standard side-scroller, and some, are... very different. In some stages you have to fly a plane and shoot down the bad guys, ride a rubber raft down a mountain without hitting trees, riding a mine cart and shooting bad guys as you go, and the list goes on...
Sound - 7/10
Good sound. Not a whole lot, but good. Punches, pistol shots, whip cracks... that's basically it. But the background music makes up for it. The theme is in here, as well as music from all three movies! Well done! John Williams is a great composer and now you can hear most of his tunes on Indy's Greatest Adventures in MIDI form. And they are of high-quality too! Excellent!
Gameplay - 7/10
There are LOTS of levels in this game, and should keep you entertained for a while. Try beating this game on all three difficulty settings! However, after that, there is little more you can do. This game can be mastered in a week. After that... you can rent it again if you'd like, but it gets repetitive after awhile.
Overall, the game is likeable. This game is one to rent or download, but as for buying... you decide. After beating once or twice, you too will find it boring.
