"Stick to the Arcade, Becuase this One is a Stinker!"

Alien vs. Predator is a excellent game released to the arcades. When I found out this game was being released for Super Nintendo I was very excited. I rented this game being I was in a big snow storm and I got out of school for a few days. I have to say that this game was not worth my time or effort for many reasons. I should have gone out and played in the snow more. I would have had tons more fun doing that than playing this disappointing game.

Graphics:10/10

This is by far the best part of the game. Big, detailed characters. The size of them really helps. Predator looks very much like his movie counterpart and acts the same too. The Aliens look very well done too. There are many aliens in this game scattering around so you can see the different variety of the species. Most of the levels were well constructed too. For example, the spaceship level looks very real, and like you are walking through there yourself. But you do know what they say. Graphics cannot make a game, and this applies for this game all the way.

Sound:6/10

Given the Alien and Predator movies, I feel they could have done better in this department. I didn't recognize hardly any music from the films. I would have really liked to see some of this. Throughout the game I would listen for it, and nothing ever came to my ears familiar. The sound effects are not anything to write home about either. You got your blasting type noise from your gun and that is really about it. You can also hear aliens scampering around. The sound in this game could have been spectacular, but it ended up only mediocre.

Gameplay:5/10

This side scroller is missing something throughout the whole game. It's something you cannot put your finger on, but it doesn't feel right. It comes nothing close to the arcade which is one of the better side scrollers I have played. This whole game feels rushed, and thrown together. I'll go back and say the graphics make this game appear cool at first. Punching the daylights out of aliens is fun at first. It gets old faster than you can imagine. This game is just not fun at all. The levels are made well but they don't offer anything during gameplay. It's tedious, boring, and repetitive. It gives side scrollers a very bad reputation if you take a look at this game. I could recommend any side scroller over this game in a heartbeat. It's game style offers no fun, and to tell you the truth, the game is pretty hard. Good luck beating it on a harder difficulty.

Story:5/10

Not too much of a story, just a game to get two popular species in the same game being Predator and the Aliens. You play as Predator who goes around blasting Aliens for some odd purpose. I wouldn't have minded it didn't have a story if this was a good game, but since it's not, I feel this story could have been expanded more.

Challenge:9/10

This is a very difficult game. Some of the aliens are extremely hard to defeat, the levels have very hard obstacles at some points, and it's just no fun which makes this game more difficult that it is. The hardest part about this game is playing it though. It offers you nothing but a headache.

Replay:1/10

This game is so bad you will not want to play it again after 15 minutes of gameplay. I cannot explain how boring this game is. I would have more fun doing homework or cleaning my room. This game really is a disgrace to the Alien and Predator movies. You will wonder why they made this game. It puts these movies into shame. I guarantee if you play this game that it will either grow dust on it, or make a trip to your garbage disposal.

Buy/Rent:Neither

I rented this game and hated every minute of it. I dropped this game off at the return drop off with a big grin on my face, and it isn't because I liked it. I was happy to get it out of my hands. I don't care if this game is $1 dollar, it isn't worth it. No money is worth this game. Since it's pretty old, I doubt you would see it anyway so that is a good thing we can be happy about. Let's all burn our copies of Alien vs. Predator!

Overall:4/10

With all my ripping on this game you are probably wondering why I give it a 4. The graphics are outstanding and were very beautiful. But not even graphics could save this poor games soul. This game provides, boredom, nausea, and a serious headache. Unless these are the ingredients you are looking for in a game I suggest you stay clear of this bomb. If you want a good game, give the arcade a try. Just avoid Alien vs. Predator for the Super Nintendo.
