"One of the most underrated games I have ever played..."

When I first rented this game at Blockbuster many years ago I couldn't believe it wasn't a major game of the year. I rented it at least ten times since I could never find it for sale. You really must play this game to understand why it is so good. This is why I think so...

Story-9 The basic story of Joe & Mac is some bad cavemen steal all of the women in the village that Joe & Mac live in. It is up to them to bring them back. Along the way you must face ferocious dinosaurs,crazed cavemen, and many other threatening creatures including some great bosses.

Gameplay-10 The most important part of any game in my opinion. This game is a side scroller. You basically have a single jump, a larger jump, and you attack with your club. You get various powerups for your club including boomerangs, wheel boulders, flame, and bone clubs. Since the game is set in prehistoric times you fight dinosaurs and cavemen. After you beat a level's boss, whoever caused the most damage to him (if you are playing two player) gets a kiss from the kidnapped cavegirl. In some levels you get keys that let you try to win extra turns, powerups, or save points on the map screen.

Sound-10 The music is perfect for this type of game and really sets the mood. The sounds of dinosaurs roaring to the sound of your club hitting things all sound great together. I really like the sounds of this game.

Animation-10 The animations of Joe & Mac are very well made in my opinion. I really like the look of the levels, dinosaurs, and everything else. Especially when you fight the bosses. It all goes very well together perfectly.

Fun Factor-10 This is one of the funnest and entertaining games there are on the Super Nintendo. Especially when you play with someone else. I love this game.

Replay Value-10 I don't think I could ever get tired of playing this game. It is a classic, fun side scroller game that could be played numerous times in a row and would not be any less entertaining than the first time you played.

Overall-10 This game is very good and if you still have your Super Nintendo I highly recommend you find this gem of a game. You won't regret that you did!

Rent or Buy- Even if I wrote this review ten years ago when it was still rentable I would have said the same thing- Buy it as soon as you can find it.
