"An unkown but quite good game"
When I first rented Dragon view, I had no idea what it was. But as I played it, I thought it was great and I liked the 3-D overworld (well I was young, and never had games with this kind of graphics), so it does bringfond memories.
Graphics- 8
The graphics in this game are a bit cutie-looking, but generally are pretty good. The overworld is in 3-D. This is nothing new, but, it wasen't seen much on the SNES. They are not too detailed or too colourful, they are just alright for the game. Your sword armor and sword-weapon change colour as they upgrade, and thats good.
Gameplay- 8.5
The Gameplay of this game is really great. Movement in towns in easy, and the fights are a bit like final fight battles (although these are random battles). There is also a super-move that you can do, but it takes away some of your health (why does that seem SO familiar?). A good thing about this game is you NEVER have to buy new weapons or armors, since you have to find the upgrades all over the world. Well, this is not always a good thing, but it makes it different from the fight-level-return to town-buy best equipment-fight games *cough* final fantasy *cough*
Story- 2
Well what? There was hardly any story at all: Your girlfriend is kidnapped by a powerful magician, and you must rescue her. Almost makes me hear ''Help me Mario!'' from afar. Still, it does have its good moments. I even recall almost feeling sad at one point. And believe me, no other game ever did that. The atmosphere is quite good.
Replay value- 2
There is hardly any replay value at all. Oh of course, you might want to get ALL the ubgrades to you sword and you armor and your axe-like weapon. But, I honestly think you should play this only once. After that, its only good in small doses.
Difficulty- 7
That doesn't mean its HARD it means the difficulty is well balanced. Yes its a little easy at times, but its also a bit hard at times. And luckily, it never gets TOO hard or TOO easy. Thats great.
Overall, Dragon View is a good RPG, with only one or two things to distinguish it from all the others. It has enough redeeming qualities to make it worth playing. And since this is a greatly overlooked game, it SHOULD at least be tried.
