Road Runner's Death Valley Rally
Review by Hiryuu
"Basic action game with Road Runner"
Everybody has remembered waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch Saturday morning cartoons. But would would happen if the cartoons were interactive? Well, you might end up with something like Death Valley Ralley.
The object of Death Valley Ralley is pretty simple. Run through a level as quick as you can while collecting flags. When you reach the ending, if you're fast enough you'll get a time bonus, but if you're good enough, you'll get a flag bonus. Hidden throughout the level are different colored flags, worth different amounts of points. Some of these flags are INCREDIBLY difficult to find, and the fact that you won't usually be able to find them, will challenge (or at least frustrate) most gamers. Usually, it's best to just ignore the flags altogether. You can run, turbo run (with a turbo meter, fill it up with bird seed), peck, and jump in this adventure. Along the way, Wile E. Coyote will have a wacky contraption from one of the cartoons, trying to foil foil you. If he touches you, you will lose some life. At the end of each level, you will see Wile E.'s contraption turn against him in a hilarious death scene, that made the cartoon famous.
The graphics are good, and they remain true to the classic cartoon. The characters look big and easy to identify, and look just like their cartoon counterparts. The sounds aren't bad, but they're not too memorable. Average at best.
The game isn't bad, but it is incredibly tedious. The addition of the flags adds a challenging twist to this already challenging game, but the fact that there is no password/save feature, you'll just as soon rather get through the level than waste time looking for a few measly flags. It's good for a rent, but gets boring quickly.
