"Fun, fast paced game that nobody remembers!"
Take Einhander, tone down the graphics and you've got Thunder Spirits. Everyone I've talked has either never heard of the game, or doesn't remember it. Others don't like it - I'm none of the above. IMHO, Thunder Spirits is a good solid game. Now, allow me to go into some detail...
Graphics: 8
I liked the graphics, although there wasn't anything extrodinary about them. They provided good detail, although the ship was pretty small. In the faster parts of the game you don't really take the time to look into the detail, but it's there.
Music/Sound Effects: 7
I'll be honest, sometimes the music got a little on my nerves but that rarely happened. Other parts of the music were pretty cool and played right into the game. Nothing special about the sound effects...
Gameplay: 9
Best part of the game. The fast paced action, especially against some of the bosses, was really cool! I also like the selection of weapons, although I wish a few more couldv'e been added on. It was also cool that you could set your ship's speed to fit your liking. My only real problem is that a couple of the bosses have such simple/stupid patterns that you can kill them without any difficulty at all. Then of course, most of the bosses are pretty cool and require some practice.
Replay Value: 8
I played this game a lot, and still do. It does though, get a little boring after a while if you just play it on Easy. Overall, Thunder Spirits is very enjoyable and in my opinion is worth playing over several times.
Bottom Line: Thunder Spirits is a good and fun game. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to find (as are a lot of SNES games nowaday). Your best bet would either FuncoLand or EBay. Now if you'll excuse me, I must go save the world...again!
