Secret of Evermore

"A very underrated game in my opinion"

Graphics 9/10
This game has pretty good graphics but instead of being colorful and fun this game's graphics are rather grey and boring but it gives the game a very nice look and some kind of magic to it. The alchemy system looks very nice and becomes a nice addition to the game graphics.

Control 7/10
Pretty stiff but works well, the menu's are nice too they work pretty fast if you are in a rush of changing equipment or something like that, it's simple when you get used to them. The only thing that is sad is that you can control two characters and both of them have EXACTLY the same controls except the movement speed and things like that, I think they could have put in a different control for each characters. And one more thing, no real options just text speed, control changes and window color. No music options.... that is bad.

Audio 9/10
The audio is great, shifting from atmospheric sfx to calm and soft music for example in a jungle it is background noises like a growling animal and birds and it really sounds good and in a cave it's calm music it really feels good listening. The hack n' slash sounds are good too they sound realistic and the menu's noises are not annoying like they usually are.

Story 8/10
The story in this game is......Odd it's fun and tragic at the same time, you meet many strange people and one very good thing is.. This is no save-the-world-get-the-princess story that is positive well I don't want to reveal too much so I stop with the story here.

Fun-factor 8/10
This game is FUN since the story is exciting, the controls are good, music/sounds rocks, alchemy is fun, level up system is normal and that makes it....fun.

Replayability 9/10
The first time you play through this game you will probably find about 30% of secrets that exists it's tons of them and fun small things you got to find to get out everything of this game.And don't forget the alchemy system instead of mp you have ingridients and it's fun as pancake and it's tons of hidden alchemy spells so find em all. So this game will keep you by the TV for a good amount of hours.

Overall 9/10
FUN!FUN!FUN! It'll keep you busy a good while. cause it's a kind of calm game you really don't have to rush no time counting puzzles or something like that, very nice done of Squaresoft

Buy or Rent?
I don't think you can rent this game anymore so BUY.
