"A good game, but I wouldn't classify it an"

When I first popped Mega Man 7 into the SNES, I was having fun...but I wasn't having the complete blast I usually have when I play a new Mega Man game.

Capcom did a good job of bringing you into the wonderful 2D Sidescroller series, ''Mega Man''. The games were great on the NES, and had even better graphics and sounds on the SNES. This game, however, seemed to go a bit lower than the other SNES games, such as Mega Man X and Mega Man X2.
--------------------------------------------------
The Gameplay in this game is good, and it shares the common play as in the other games, but there are some new things up Capcom's sleeve this time. For one, there is a shop in which you can buy items ranging from extra lives to a new Rush module (yes, that cute little dog is back, and better than ever!). There are also the standard ''Heart Tanks'' and ''Energy Tanks'' to help you out. There are quite a few upgrades to pump yourself up, as well.

Aside from those other things, the game runs pretty much like every other Mega Man game. It's a sidescroller, with 1 mini-boss and 1 boss per level. Each boss you defeat earns you another weapon, which is the weakness to another boss. The controls are pretty nice...they are also pretty similar to the other games; which makes it very easy to learn. The only difference from the ''X'' games is that you can NOT cling to walls and/or jump on them. That really, really bugged me...the dashing is also an inkling more difficult than in the other games.

One of the things I really like about the whole Mega Man series in general is that in certain levels, you can only reach certain things once you have achieved certain items (if I say certain again I will go nuts). A good example would be a power-up in a bush, which can only be reached when you gain a flamethrower, and those kinds of things...I give the Gameplay a 9/10
--------------------------------------------------
The Graphics...well...the graphics didn't impress me a whole lot, and that was the first thing that prevented the ''New-Mega Man-Game-Awe'' effect from hitting me. The graphics could've been so much better, like those in Mega Man X and Mega Man X2, but apparently Capcom chose to do something different. The graphics don't seem to come out of the game...rather, they seem to stay flat as paper. Colorful they may be, but they seriously lacked compared to the other games. This is the only thing that kept me from playing this over and over again...I could not take them. If you don't mind graphics that much, then this section is probably a 10/10 to you...but the graphics get a 7/10 from me.
--------------------------------------------------
The Sound is also somewhat tweaked, yet needs tweaking. I really liked some of the soundtracks, but the sound effects
were lacking. Nothing a little Linkin Park can't cure, but I usually like to have the full on sound impression from a game. The firing of the X-Buster (Mega Man's main weapon) sounds more like a sound effect on the Game Boy than a full on SNES effect. The rest of the sounds are OK...just a little too...childish? That's probably the word, they all sound like cartoons. A 7/10 here.
--------------------------------------------------
I recommend buying this game...it wouldn't cost barely anything anymore, and it is a pretty fun game, aside from its minor flaws. This game is a must-have if you are a Mega Man collector, so head out to the store to buy this today!
