"The next step in Mortal Kombat is good"

Mortal Kombat 3 for the Super Nintendo did improve over the previous Mortal Kombat title that was release. In Midway’s new Mortal Kombat title there are new characters as well as old favorites (like Sub-Zero). There are aspects that make this game different from the previous two Mortal Kombat games that came before it. One thing Midway did to try to make this game better than Mortal Kombat II was that they used a cast of different actors for the characters that wasn’t done yet in the franchise probably since the first Mortal Kombat game. In my opinion, this must be the one of the best looking Mortal Kombat games to be released on the Super Nintendo. Another aspect that makes this game better than Mortal Kombat II is that, in some levels the blowing of paper in the background to give it a nice look to the background (as the same for the Subway level).

GRAPHICS: 10/10
The graphics improved since the last Mortal Kombat game, stating that the levels look more crisp and sharp. The characters also look real and the fatalities can make the game look sick, especially with the blood turned on. I think that this is the best that the Mortal Kombat games can ever got on this old school console.

SOUND: 10/10
With the third installment of the Mortal Kombat series probably sounds more realistic as each punch that you use against your opponent. With only one voice actor (which is only for Shao Kahn) is actually good for the game (since he is the main boss) will try to make you lose your courage against fighting him but that might make you stronger to defeat him.

DIFFICULTY: 10/10
Ed Boon, the main person behind the Mortal Kombat series decided to keep the Mortal Kombat games as it was in Mortal Kombat II as tough as it is in some of the difficulty settings. If the difficulty isn’t like Mortal Kombat II, but it seems to that the difficulty is definitely better than any other fighting game (that I’ve played since Killer Instinct). The difficulty is a little harder with each character because each character has their own attributes, strengths, and weaknesses, which makes this game one of the best in the series. After you chose a character you’ll have to choose what difficulty that you want to climb: Novice, Warrior, and Expert

MUSIC: 9.1/10
Boon decided to add in-game music while you are doing a fight, even though that it’s instrumental, but it can be all to keep you fighting your opponent to the final round. Boon could’ve had it where there was a little more beat to the music to make you want to fight your opponent to the death and finish them with a FATALITY, or whatever you decide to use to decide their FATE.

CONTROL: 9.7/10
The control in the third installment of the Mortal Kombat series is a little off from how it was in Mortal Kombat II, but basically the control is still good enough to make this game very efficient, especially trying to pull of some of the character’s moves, or by finishing off your opponent with a FATALITY.

STORY/PLOT: 9.4/10
There isn’t much of a story here except when you are playing by yourself and when you beat the game with a certain character, and you want to find out what happens after you defeat the final boss. This game isn’t much different then from the other fighting games that were out when this game was released or released after this game was.

REPLAY VALUE: 9.5/10
Mortal Kombat 3 has a great replay value because there are 15 characters to beat the game with and need I say more about the replay value besides that it can make you go through with each character until you are finally done. That isn’t just it because there are ways to keep you occupied in this game (such as the difficulty of the game).

OVERALL: 9.6/10
Overall this must be one of the best Mortal Kombat games that were released onto the Super Nintendo. I must say that Ed Boon done a great job on delivering another great Mortal Kombat title for the hardcore Mortal Kombat fans that are out there and it’ll keep you challenged for days to come. If I had to choose a classic fighting game on the Super Nintendo I would have to go with Mortal Kombat 3 as one of my Top-10 choices for the best fighting game ever released on this old school console.
