"The Game That Started The Top Gear Series"

This game was one of the best racing games you could of played on the SNES. Thanks to this little gem, the games continued with a second and third title on the SNES and continued onto the N64 with some more great games. Kemco knew how to make great Top Gear games. I hope they continue to make more.

Graphics 8.5/10: Hey! What can I tell Ya. This game had some of the best graphics at its time. They were not bad, but some textures could of been better. But still, if you have played this game, you knew that graphics were not the major thing that got you to play this. The cars had great detail but all the AI cars were of not much variety. Just mostly clones of you. Meh.

Sound: 9/10: The sound effects and music was very good, and suited the game throughout all the races. Since there is 4 tracks per country, the first track of each country had the same music and so did the second and so on. Still, the music was good, and you cloud hear the car reving real high because if the Nitro(Nitrous Oxide) you just used. The first track song was a great song to catch your attention.

Play Control:9/10: For controls, you just turned, sped up and down, shifted gears(If it was manual), and blasted Nitros. They were great and I never saw a problem with the controls glitching out on you due to some faulty programming. They responded well. You had a few choices on what control setup to use.

Game Design:9/10: You had 4 cars to choose from and many tracks to race. Each car had its own characteristics and that brought you to a choice, take an easy to drive car(the White car) or a hard car to drive(the red). Still, you could beat the game if you played it often without much effort. The hard difficulty added extra obstacles on a few tracks to catch you off guard.

Satisfaction: 10/10: Nostalgia will keep this game going and it still does to me. A classic game like this will prevail for many years. The music, graphics and controls gave you lots of fun.

Overall: 9/10: If you like racing, try out Top Gear ( or Top Racer, the japanese version). It was a loved classic and will be for a long time. It will be just hard to find, unless you already own it.
