The Adventures of Batman & Robin

"The Caped Crusader soars in this awesome title!"

It's not very often I rate games so highly, but when they deserve it I'm more than happy to. This one definitely deserves it. Even non-fans of the animated series should get a blast out of this title.

Story 10/10

I can't complain about the story line of this game. Sure it's pretty straightforward, but it goes to the trouble to break the game down into multiple mini-stories, most of which are based directly on episodes from the animated series. The mission objectives are laid out clearly, each level ends when you pound the boss into oblivion. Simple and yet wonderful in it's simplicity.

Game Play 10/10

The controls for Batman are smooth and responsive, which is always helpful when taking on a city full of goons and super villains. Use of the various gadgets is easy, which makes for a very smooth crime fighting experience. The difficulty level of this game on most settings is just right so that it's usually challenging without being frustrating. Younger players might have a tough time with some of the levels near the end, but that's about the way it goes with most games.

Graphics 10/10

The graphics are fantastic. They are vibrant and colorful, and the animation and smooth and closely resembles the characters in the cartoon. I was amazed at the details too, like the movement of Batman's cape when he runs and jumps, and the way the thugs heads snap back and forth when you're beating the tar out of them. The bosses are colorful and cool to look at too, which makes them that much more fun to smack around.

Sound 10/10

The sound effects on this game are great. The punches sound like punches, and the ''oofs'' and ''aahs'' of the thugs and batman getting beaten up sound like just that. Even the joker's laugh sounds like a real laugh (compared to Whirlwind in Captain America and the Avengers). The music is cool and and really gets you into the game, as well as recreating the atmosphere of the show.

I'll be honest, I thought Batman the Animated Series was alright, but this game was an instant hit with me. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially Batman fans. You won't be dissapointed. If you're looking for a cool way to pass the time, I'd suggest you spend it with Batman and Robin.
