"Just another average platformer"

I am writing this review in 1999, 5 years after this game was released. Back then the hottest game was Doom, Now it is Quake III. However in 5 years a lot has also changed. 2D Platformers, once the most popular genre are no more. Today it is all about 3D and only the best of the best platform games are still being played i.e Donkey Kong and Mario World. The question is then can this game cut the mustard and have what it takes to take a place along side the greatest platform games of history. Sadly Not. Now don't get me wrong it is not a bad game and many of you retro gamers out there will have hours of fun with it I'm sure. However it didn't really add anything to distinguish it from the crowd.

Okay now that I have had my little rant on with the game!

Graphics (6/10) - If you want to play this game now then obviously the graphics won't matter too much however even for Super Snes standards the graphics weren't that great. They look very "first generation" when at the same time games like Donkey Kong were released with graphics that made Indiana Jones look like it was made on the NES. However the graphics weren't totally crap. Some of the backgrounds looked good, however on the whole the Graphics were average.

Music/Sound (7/10) - Exactly like the Graphics department. The Sounds/Music was average at best however they aren't really that bad. You didn't have to mute the T.V volume because the music drove you crazy, it just wasn't that good.

Game play (7/10) - The gameplay is very simple, just move from left to right killing the baddies with your whip/gun. In a few levels you had to think about what you were doing but normally you just moved left to right and maybe if you are lucky move up and down as well! The few levels that you didn't move left to right were quite good. The levels where you have to shoot the planes down, ride a mining cart and ride a hovercraft over the snow were the highlights of the game and showed that with a little bit more effort what the game could have been like But on the whole the gameplay was (wait for it) Average!

Difficultly (Medium) - On the Easy and Medium settings the game is relatively easy however crank the difficultly up to Hard and it does become more challenging however nothing that you couldn't beat without patience.

Story (7/10) - The story line isn't really special if you have watched the Indiana Jones movies then you know what it is about.

Overall (7/10) - One word can sum up this game - Average. An unremarkable game that you will probably forget about after a few days after completing it but worth a look anyway.
