"Have a taste of the SPIRIT GUN!"

Released for the Super Nintendo console (Super Famicom in Japan) by Namco of Japan on June 10,1994. This Yu Yu Hakusho game is made similarly to Street Fighter II (which was also followed by Yu Yu Hakusho Final) and other fighting games of that time. The game was largely based on the manga comics made by manga artist Yoshihiro Togashi and the anime version that was released in Japan and in some parts of Asia.

STORY:

The game is based on the manga and anime versions, it revolves around a young high school version named Yusuke Urameshi, who is a young juvenile delinquent who has made trouble often with the police. But his life suddenly made a turning point when he saved a young child from being rammed by an incoming car. A young god has offered Yusuke the chance to be alive for the second time around, but only if he'll become a netherworld detective to guard and protect Earth against the evil spirits that may have infiltrated the planet in the guise of ordinary human beings. Yusuke agrees and was revived. With the help of his comrades, Yusuke must now safeguard the planet Earth and defeat the evil spirits before they conquer the planet.

CONTROLS:

Just like any 2D fighting game existing, there are various buttons that are types of kicks and punches. If combined with various types of motion (Such as the Fireball motion from Street Fighter II), you can perform the special fighting moves of each of the character. Just keep an eye on the energy meter. Because if you happen to run out of energy while you want to finish off the enemy, then you'll be in a lot of trouble.

AUDIO/VIDEO:

The voice overs; the stages and all of the characters in the world of Yu Yu Hakusho are done very well. The voices are well done based on the anime version and it looks that the characters and the backgrounds are based from the manga version. A job well done to the producers of Namco Japan for this part!

REPLAYABILITY:

There are endings for all the playable characters that you may want to try out for yourself. So, try all of them and see if you can get all of their endings. This game may be irritating to play 'cause of the energy meter. But nevertheless, this is a good manga game to play with in your SNES.
