"EA Sports delivers it's first baseball offering"
Graphics: 7: For a 16-bit baseball game, the graphics are pretty good, the players anre nice and big, and detailed, every MLBPA player has there own photograph in the game. The pitcher-batter interface looks good as well.
Sound: 7: Sound effects are pretty good, there isn't much music in the game, except during the 7th inning stretch, but nothing much to say bad about the sound.
Gameplay: 7: All the MLB teams are here, but there is no official MLB liscense, so all you got is just city names of the real teams, with fake logos(It was common for most baseball games to skip out with the MLB liscense and only go with the MLBPA liscense during 16-bit baseball gaming). There are a nice variety of modes to play, Exhibition, Season, and Playoffs. The actual game play it self is nice, batting is easy to follow, with bonus last at bat stats(that wasn't in the Geneseis version), fielding is pretty good as well, with only pressing a direction on the control pad and a button to throw to a base. You also get nice little animations on the scoreboards after, home runs, stolen bases, etc.
Replay Value: 6: Up to 2 players can play, plus you can input some cheat codes for a slippery field, frictionless baseball, super fastballs, etc. But there's no MLB liscense, and the only way to save your season is through a password and those can get annoying to copy down, game after game. Plus, a home run derby mode would've been appreciated, but we didn't get one from EA Sports here.
Overall: 7: A good first baseball game from EA Sports, but could've been better, considering it's from the best sports publisher today, you'll want to skip over season mode, because you probably won't feel like copying down passwords, but the game is really fun to play nonetheless, but I recommend getting Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run if you're gonna get a 16-bit baseball game.
