Disney's Aladdin
Review by KSW131
"This brings back memories."
Ah, Aladdin. Ok average disney sappy movie, one of the greatest games on the SNES. Ever. This was what brought me into the SNES and what makes it one of the best systems ever.
Graphics : 8/10
Run of the mill graphics, but still very colorful and the animations are great as well. They're quite detailed for the SNES, and the bosses look great. The background and sprites are well animated, but some of the enemies' animations are lacking and short.
Story : 5/10
Dumb Disney story. Dude has love interest, saves love interest, everybody's happy, etc etc.
Sound : 10/10
The sound is one of the best parts of the game. It was all very related to the movie (the only good part about the movie) and they were in sync with the vivid levels. There's even a little melody to the famous song from the movie ''whole new world'', or something like that.
Control : 10/10
The control layout is perfect here. The controls are SUPER RESPONSIVE. This game sorta reminds me of Donkey Kong. Aladdin jumps impossible heights (donkey kong) and lands on enemies' faces (DK's jump). The apple throwing is also a cool little implementation.
Gameplay : 9/10
Ah, where do I start. The levels are all colorful and you can see where you are going. The levels range from the marketplace, the genie's world, the pyramid, and Jafar's palace. There is even a level where you can ride the carpet out of danger from lava (my favorite level). The bosses (only 3, but still sweet) are awesome, too. The first guard dude is really easy, but the
final bosses are challenging. There is also a nice little password feature. If you capture the shiny beetle, you get to play a bonus roulette at the end of the level. My only problem with the gameplay is it's a little short, and alot of the stages are easy.
Fun Factor : 10/10
Aladdin moves fluidly and smoothly. From hanging from a stalacite escaping lava to jumping on disappearing Genie heads (btw, why would the Genie wanna kill you anyway?), the game is fun for kids and a good 30 minute game for adults. There are also scenes from the movie, but who cares about that anyway.
Final Score : 9/10 (not an Average - quoth IGN)
Bad movie, awesome game. This is a good pick from the bargain rack.
Anyway, get this game. It's an SNES classic. It's better than most of the garbage games giving platformers a bad name out there (cough Crash Bandicoot franchise cough)
