The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt
Review by WishingTikal
"Hey, there's even a level inside a toilet !"
This game is pointless. It's a very difficult and boring platformer, with a crappy story. You see, since I'm not going to rate this story, Wednesday has hidden 6 items in 6 rooms of the house and Pugsley must go through the traps in the rooms to find these 6 items. Pointless. Period.
Graphics -7/10
I guess they are decent.. it's nothing special, without being plain ugly. The backgrounds are nice, the enemies too and the rest is ok. The only level that really looked great was the bathroom level, in my opinion. The rest was weird. And I most warn you, Pugsley's design is ugly. I mean, press Start while he's eating his sandwich and you'll see what I mean.
Music -5/10
The music is kinda.. so-so. In most of the levels, the music is always the same and it isn't great so it's boring. Other levels have decent music. The awful jazz music is one of the level is horrible, though.
Sounds -4/10
Horrible. The sounds are so horrible it's almost scary. You see, when you kill an enemy, it makes the same sound as someone farting. No joke. And this sound, especially, is very loud. What the heck ? I don't know. The other sounds aren't really great either.. they are weird but I suppose they are ok.
Gameplay -6/10
Pugsley actually runs like a girl. You know, with his arms hanging from both sides of his body. He also jumps a weird way. So, now on to serious things. There are 6 rooms to visit in the house; bathroom, attic, freezer, basement, laboratory and crystal ball. Only 6 levels, but 6 long, boring levels. You can choose which level you want to do at the start, except for 2 blocked levels. You have 3 Hearts and 6 continues. And that's not enough because, believe me, this game is very hard. It's hard telling why, maybe because the game isn't appealing. You don't really feel like wanting to reach the end of the level while playing. I would have prefer shorter levels and more levels. They are long and it's always the same thing over and over. Open this door by pressing these 3 switches in order, open this door by finding the 3 hidden switches, etc etc.. To be honest, I never completed any of the levels. First, they were too long, second, too difficult and finally, too boring. The only level I actually went near completing and that I actually enjoyed, was the bathroom level. This one looked fine, with the bloody water, the bubbles all over and it was quite fun. The doors were toilet bowls. Cool. Also, when you kill an enemy, there is blood. Lots of blood. Red. I tell you, this game is plain weird.
Overall -6/10
No. Don't buy that. Even for $1, or maybe only for the bathroom level. Buy Mario Super Star instead or replay it another time. It's not that it\'s a really bad game, but the fact is that, it's not a good game either.
