"A great fighting game, but not revolutionary"

Primal rage was my first fighting game ever. I got it at a young age, and played it with my friends and family. Back when i was a little kid, i would have given this, or any video game a 10. Now I'm a lot smarter, and i can give this game a much more accurate rating for you people that still buy snes games at places like funcoland.

Graphics: (9/10): These graphics were excellent for the time that it was made. The characters are not blocky and deformed, and the game doesnt lag their movements. The background scenery is nice, and you dont have much complaints about graphics, other than the people are to small to see :P.

Sound: (6/10) The sound is average. None of the tunes are catchy, and the victory yells are enough to please. The tunes do, however, get on your nerves, and the attack sounds dont sound very accurate, they sound like they were just thrown together.

Gameplay: (6/10): You can pick from a wide variety of monsters, each with their own attacks and features. The attacks go smoothly, but the control for moving is poor and the combos are difficult to press. Many times you will be struck before you can get one out, or monsters will use their cheap moves (like vertigos teleport) to mess up your attack and get a cheap shot on you. The ai however, doesn't seem to have the control problems like you. You can eat people to recover, but its hard to do, and with bloodthirsty animals chasing you down, i don't think you really have the time.

Story: (4/10): Its a fighting game, so the story is usually gonna be poor. Some weird events happened to the earth, you got released from your ''seal'', and your enemies and you totally demolished the humans world. Now you are fighting to be the owner of the earth. Not much to it, considering most of the characters dont have any plot to them at all. (like where they came from.)

Replay value: (10/10): This is where the game scored big. It never got very boring to replay, and to this day it is still a fun game. At times it gets tedious, but i guess all games do eventually.

Buy or rent: Well, i dont think blockbuster rents out snes games anymore (at least not most of them :P) so just buy it. I saw it in funcoland for 5 dollars, its worth the money.
