Spider-Man & Venom: Separation Anxiety
Review by darkphoenix2264
"Venom....what more do you want?"
Alright, this game is....interesting. It has it's ups, it has it's downs, but overall it's fun! If you like comics, you should try it. It's a unique game, though not as fun as it's predecessor, Maximum Carnage.
Story-8/10
This game is based off of a 6 comic series called ''Venom: Lethal Protector'' and they do a pretty good job keeping them one in the same. However, there are a few flaws. First, the jury is not ''hired'' to work for the life foundation. They were hunting for venom because venom killed some security dude. Bleh. Anyways, oh well, they still work for good bosses. There's a few more plots left out including Carnage was never in the book, but hell who cares, Carnage is cool! Overall, nice storyline.
Gameplay-8/10
Beat them up. Beat them up. HOLY CRAP HE'S HARD! That's what I was saying a lot of the time. I suggest you get a friend to help you out on this game. Otherwise, you'll get ganged up on A LOT. The bosses range from easy (the jury and the first two symbiotes) to hard (the other three symbiotes and carnage) but not THAT hard. Infact, the hardest thing I fought was these little dog robots. They took more damage away then carnage ever did. Oh well. It's still lots of fun to run around and beat the crap outta guys who think they can take Venom or Spidey. Hehe.
Sound-5/10
Eck. Please, someone, destroy all music but the boss fight music. This was crap! They did good sounds for characters, fighting punching kicking sounds, and all. Each character usually had a voice, though most lackeys didn't. Oh well, symbiotes had them, good enough for me. Just please someone get different music. Even the intro music sucked!
Controls-10/10
Simple. Punch, jump, web swing, etc. Combos are easy to. Nothing there that's not to like. Just go around pressing buttons sometimes doing cool combos and kick some life foundation butt!
Overall-8/10
I'm a Venom fan. That's what made me truly interested in this game. If you're not a comic fan, you might not be interested in this game. However, if you're a brawler/gamer guy, go ahead. Try your luck. It's pretty fun, got lotsa replay value, a hard mode, codes, all the stuff. Rent or buy? If you can find it cheap nowadays, buy. If not, just go to a dillons or somewhere that they still rent SNES games out and rent it.
