King of the Monsters 2 is a port of the Arcade version, which was released in 1993 by SNK. Takuyo did the SNES version. You take control of any of three monsters. Super Geon; a Godzilla-like lizard, Cyber Woo; a robot ape, or Atomic Guy; a mutant man. You go around destroying cities, and at the end of each level you fight a monster.

The gameplay is fairly good. It’s a lot of fun to walk around ripping skyscrapers out of the ground and smashing tanks. The controls are pretty responsive. You can punch, kick, do a flying attack, and if your gauge is high enough, a special attack. Some of the special attacks are pretty cool. For example, if you choose Cyber Woo, you can throw an opponent and shoot your hands at him. Another neat thing you can do is pick up parts of your surroundings and use it as a weapon. Just about everything can be used this way, from towers, to cars, to the Eiffel Tower. The visuals are pretty good. The first level is one of the best to look at. It’s a pretty detailed city, and the military vehicles look cool. All of the other levels are nicely detailed and have bright and vibrant colors. The match the atmosphere of what you’re playing very well. Some of your opponents are quite odd looking. In the Paris level, you fight a monster who looks like a man partially covered in moss, and who has a jellyfish for a head. After you lower his health, his head becomes unattached from his body and floats around attacking you. It’ll even suck the energy out of you, Metroid style. The sound isn’t too special. You can hear houses being crunched and whatnot, but the music isn’t really worth mentioning. Replay value is not one of this game’s best features either. You might want to play through it a few times just for the fun of it, but after you beat it once, there isn’t a point in doing it again. You can play through story mode in one or two player modes, which is pretty fun with a friend.

Overall, KotM2 is a good game. I recommend picking this game up if you can find it. It's probably difficult to find, but if you ever do, don't let this gem of a game pass you by. It's a great experience, and a blast to play with your friends!
