Battletoads & Double Dragon
Review by J J N
"Team up with the dragon brothers and squirky frogs!"
Introduction
This game is the team up of the two best gaming characters in the SNES genre. The characters are the battle toads and the martial artist brothers, the Doublr Dragons. This is a good, old fashion beat-them up sort of game that requires advance hand-eye cordination, which is vital in this game.
Game Play
The game play for this game is the standard beat them up, with the added style of the battle toads and the double dragons.
There is a combinaton of buttons in which your press to execute the moves such as punches and kicks and throws.
All the characters in the game got their own set of unique fighting moves, which is good because this doesn't look mundane when you're doing it again and again in the game.
There are weapons in this game which you can pick up and use. There is an assortment of weapons, such as the bo (long stick), knife and nunchuck. One tihng I noticed that there is a limitation in which you use the weapon. You can only use it for a while, before the weapon drops and you have to fight bare hands. I would've much perfered if we're able to use that weapon until we DROP IT, or the enemies picked it up. Oh well.
Graphic
The graphic for this game is good. I mean, what more can I say? The pixel is in good resolution and that there is no complain about this.
The level design for the game is well done. The team fights alot of places -- and I do mean it. You fight in the top of the space ship, in the sewer, in the streets, inside buildings and much more.
Sound / Music
I still remember the awesome music of this game. It is fast, moving techno music that is blasted through out this game. Most of the levels get their own music and that the boss have their own music too. This is good because when you're fighting the boss you know this because the music changes to some thing fast beat, which creates this desperate need to defeat the boss. Talk about scary sounding.
The sound effects for this game is good, also. You have your standard thwacking and whacking noises when you're righting your enemies with the stick and knives and you can hear the kicks and all.
Conclusion
I say this game is a slightly above average fighting game because there is my favourite martial artist and the crazy, quirky battle toads! Have fun.
