WWF Super Wrestlemania
Review by Chris Kage
"The first of the WWF Games for the SNES."
WWF Super WrestleMania Was the first WWF game released for the SNES, A great game at the time showing potential that good WWF were games to come. now onto the review.
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics although nothing overly jaw dropping were good graphics on the SNES at the time. Each wrestler could be distinguished clearly, they looked as close as 16 bit graphics could bring them to there real life counterparts. The ring although somewhat differently colored from WWF's ring at the time, was also done well. The crowd was done wrong as usual for every wrestling/fighting game.
Sound: 7/10
Standard grunts and ''oohs'' were the extent of the wrestlers sounds, The music on the start menu and before/after the matches was of good quality for the time period, and each wrestler had his own MIDI style theme.
Control: 8/10
Control, now this is where the game done well, moving the wrestlers was easy, grappling, running and striking was easily done too, The grapple moves although limited and the same for each wrestler were no problem to hit.
The game was easy to learn and easy for anyone to pick up and play, it only took me five minutes to figure out the controls.
Gameplay: 7/10
The gameplay was above par, you had a number of wrestlers to choose although no spectacular amount like you'd find in Fire Pro Wrestling. You had all the big names from the day like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, The Undertaker, Jake ''The Snake'' Roberts, Road Warrior Animal, Road Warrior Hawk, Earthquake, Typhoon, Ted Dibiase and Sid Justice.(A.K.A Sid Viscous) The Match selection had little variety, there was one on one, tag team and survivor series. The survivor series was probably the most fun of these three because you got to have four wrestlers on your team. This mode was downsized to three wrestlers per team on the next WWE SNES game Royal Rumble.
Replay Value: 6/10
The game kept me coming back for awhile but eventually I got bored with it seeing how all the wrestlers have the same moves so if you master one wrestler you've mastered them all, and no matter who was wrestling the match usually played out the same. but that also meant that all matches with friends were equally matched due to all the wrestlers having the same move sets. so it could be entertaining if you and your friend playing the game with you were both good video game players.
Buy or Rent: Well, this game would be almost impossible to find for rent anymore so if you do want it, go to a store that carries used video games like Micro play or Electronic Boutique and buy it, its a great addition to any wrestling fans video game collection and would probably cost at the most ten bucks.
Score: rounds out to a 7 out of 10.
