"Endless fun, Tetris Attack is unbelievable."

Ah! my beloved Tetris Attack, released 7 years ago, it is one of the few Snes games that I still play frequently with my friends. It is one of those games that only Nintendo can make, games that were fun ten years ago and that are going to be fun till the end of the days: like Mario Kart, I never play Mario Kart 64, I always play the original Super Mario Kart, I never play Mario 64, I can’t stop playing Super Mario World or Yoshi’s Island, Donkey Kong 64 is a vile and revolting piece of garbage, the first three Donkey Kong’s were too good to be true.

Don’t let the Tetris name fool you, Tetris Attack has nothing to do with that game aside from the title.
There are many of modes to play: Puzzle, where you’ll have to match all the pieces with a limited number of movements (probably the hardest mode of all); Time Trial, where you’ll have to make combos to obtain extra time; and some others. But the heart of Tetris Attack is the versus mode, here you’ll spend years fighting against your friends to see who is the king playing Tetris Attack.

The main objective in that mode is to align pieces with the same symbol in any order, if you align more than three pieces you’ll send a block to your enemy that will make the things harder for him, the more aligned pieces the bigger the block will be, and you can also make combos and chain movements, so being very fast is very important while playing.

Tetris Attack has a story to boot, a story involving all Nintendo’s particular zoo in which Yoshi the dinosaur and all his bizarre friends are kidnapped by Kamek, so in that mode you’ll have to advance rescuing your friends first and fighting Kamek and his minions later, and in the end Bowser awaits.

There is no real difference between any character or enemy while playing, only that their scenario is different and they’ll get harder because they’ll be faster. Something funny is that Bowser is in fact the one of the easiest enemies, because he is so fast and will send you so many combos that you will start to make lots of combos and chain movements without even noticing it. There is an ultra hard Vs mode against the cpu too, which is the funniest of all if you are playing alone, the speed is insane, but it is possible to beat the game is that difficulty, I have beaten it a lot of times is the hardest difficulty, and I have friends that are better playing than me.

The graphics and music are as beautiful as the rest of the game. Of course as this is a game involving Yoshi everything is full of color and childish themes, but it is impossible not to like it.
The music is especially good, extremely nice and catchy, the Gargantua Blargg theme is the best one for me. Nice graphics and splendid soundtrack.

I have been playing this game for more than seven or eight years, and almost two or three times a week I still play with my friends, and I don’t plan to stop playing this game until I die, Tetris Attack can easily be your second girlfriend (or boyfriend if that is you case). Tetris Attack is and it is always going to be in my personal Top Five of all time. Try it at least once, you are not going to regret it.
