"The difficulty adds to the Greatness"
After playing through my SNES collection I came along a classic known as Aero Fighters. I remembered it well for its good game play and never ending fun. Wait what was that? NEVER ENDING FUN! Well maybe not never ending but lasts for awhile. It lasts awhile because this game is incredibly hard. In Aero Fighters you control one of four different planes each with a normal attack and a limited special attack. There are about seven levels for this game and they usually come in a different order with each plane. In each level you’ll encounter millions of enemies and billions of stray gunfire. Also each level ends with some big boss. Now I know games like this type are meant to be tough but this tough? It takes a lot of skill to beat levels but alas the game is still surprisingly fun. Now to continue with the review.
STORY 5/10
Nothing here really. The world is now full of enemy planes, tanks, and what not. I guess the story here is just to not ask questions and kill and then do some more killing which will eventually kill you.
GRAPHICS 8/10
Graphics are really done well in this game for being an old SNES game. Planes and enemies look neat and gunfire isn’t terrible. Also level designs aren’t bad with levels going over cities, sea, space, and even the rare desert. Also this is a vertically played game which fits this game.
SOUND 7/10
Background music is not great but the action and gunfire makes you forget it. Explosions and gunfire do not sound great but will keep your attention.
GAME PLAY 6/10
6 out of ten looks bad but here me out people. The difficulty of this game is just too insane. I mean I consider myself good at games but when I die instantly every time it gets on your nerves. There are tons of enemies all thrown at you at the same time. The screen is always absolutely full of gun fires and explosions. Also every level ends with a tough boss that shoots about fifty missiles at you. But do not get me wrong I still enjoy this game. There are four different planes containing different sized projectiles and also a different super weapon. The super weapons are neat however as they blow up everything on the map including gun fire. In the end however the game has seven different exciting levels but difficulty and some repetitiveness bring down the game play score.
REPLAY ABILITY 8/10
Now I did give the Game play 6 out of 10 because it was too hard but that does give the game a lot more replay value. If you somewhat like this game you’ll probably want to play a lot more until you get that one part further. Also what it is good is that you can also play two players. This is surprisingly fun and helps you out rather then going through yourself. Aero Fighters will keep you busy.
OVERALL 7/10
Overall Aero Fighters is good many forms. Except for extremely difficult game play the game almost has it all. You make like difficulty but not this much. Although it is the difficulty that will keep you playing this game. This is a great buy if you can find it.
