Review by Braben

"Another Capcom classic."

Aladdin was made by Capcom in 1993. It is a great action/platform game, one of the best I can remember in fact, and if you think that only because it is based on a Disney movie this is a children game then... you are probably right, but you are right only because this is an incredibly easy game, aside from that everything else about this game rules, and then, who cares if it is childish when the game is so good?, I remember having played The Little Mermaid (from Capcom too) and while it was even easier than this one, it was an excellent title.

Obviously the game follows the plot of movie, you will found yourself playing most of the scenes from the movie plus some new ones, so there is plenty of variety.
Like in action/platform game you will have to advance finding items and beating your opponents by jumping over their heads (because even if you have apples as a throwing weapons they can’t harm anything, they just stun them for a short period of time, which is completely useless).

Graphically Aladdin is really good, the animations are very good and all the characters look exactly the same from the movie. The music is a mix of movie themes with new ones, and all of them are very entertaining, like the one from the genie world. Technically Aladdin is Capcom standards, which means very good.

Replay Value: I don’t know how many times I have finished this game entirely, and I am not exaggerating if I say more than one hundred. It is as easy as fun, so you can try beating it without being harmed and things like that after finishing it. There are also big red diamonds necessary for I don’t remember what in each stage, and finding them all is quite a challenge (more or less).

Aladdin was made in a time where games based on Disney movies were very good, just see The Jungle Book, The Lion King or even Aladdin for the Genesis (if you want real challenge then try to find the one for the Genesis, because it is as hard as this one is easy).
I just can’t repeat it enough, Aladdin is fun fun fun FUN, and probably the best game based on a Disney movie ever made.
