Mega Man Soccer
Review by CanadaEh
"Soccer + Megaman = Weirdness"
Megaman! Wily has done it again! He's taken over the world through the sport of soccer!
Think I just made this up? Well guess what I didn't! This was the premise of a Megaman spin off. In originality they titled it Megaman Soccer! It was wacky and zany, but in my head I told myself there was a slight chance it might work and that I might just end up loving it. I play some soccer but robots playing soccer? You have to admit that the premise for this game, although a little insane, was very original.
Graphics:
Megaman and the robot masters look just like they should. They all look like their true game's counterparts. The environment? Its a soccer field! Pretty easy to do! The animations were done well. 9/10
Sounds:
The sounds weren't bad I liked the cheap music that played in the stages(sorry games, I meant games). They weren't many special effects, but when you scored a goal there was this little music to celebrate I always thought funny. 8/10
Gameplay:
Here is where all is lost. The game is played like you would in a normal soccer game. Your run around the field, passing trying to score on your opponent. But here's the trick, although it is possible to score through other methods the main method used to score was really stupid. You had to press right and the shoot button and the character let loose his special mega kick move. It was a shot that nothing could stop. The only way to prevent a shot like this from going in was to put a defenseman in front of it and taking a shot to the gut. You had a limited amount of these shots and it was whoever shot most of these type of shots in who would usually win, because actually scoring with a normal shot was nearly impossible. 2/10
Fun factor/ Replay ability:
The only way this game would be any fun was if you played with someone else and didn't use to cheap shot trick to score. This way it was close and it relied more on skills then a crappy special shot move. Besides the computer was bloody easy and the passwords were really, really long. 6/10
Overall:
My feeling that this game had a slight chance of success to me liking it was way off. It wasn't my most hated game but lets say its in my bottom 25 of all time. Megaman was one of my favorite characters in the NES and SNES era that game disappointed me to be honest. But if you find it for under 3 dollars( as always, Canadian) then buy it just to see what this game was like. 6/10
