Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City
Review by TyAlt21
"This deserves to be on Nintendo's 10 Worst List"
This game has got to be the weirdest thing I've ever played. The story is that MJ goes to the basketball court for a practice, and realizes that there's no one there. His whole team has been abducted by aliens or some crazy thing, and he has to save them dressed in his uniform and using nothing but his trusty balls...basketballs that is.
Graphics (6/10) - The graphics in this game aren't half bad for Super Nintendo. Although, there wasn't much to this game as far as graphics go. There were little bats (ooo hard), enemies with basketballs for heads, spiders, and that's about it. MJ looked like a basketball player, but not really himself. He could have been any guy in a basketball uniform. The teammates weren't distiguishable, being a Bull's fan, I knew all of the people on there, and I didn't recognize anyone in the game. The levels were really the only good looking things on there. The backgrounds were nicely done and added kind of a scary touch to some of the darker levels.
Sound (5/10) - The music is ok. When a level is dark and scary, the music is dark and scary. When a level is bright and not so scary, the music is still dark and scary. See what I mean? It almost sounds like the same track playing over and over again, makes you wanna scream. Aside from that, I found the balls to be very annoying. Every time they'd bounce, you'd hear it. The bouncing kind of drives you nuts after awhile you know? I did like the fact that each different kind of ball had a different sound when it bounced though, that was a nice touch.
Gameplay (5/10) - The game itself was fun, for the middle few levels. I say this because, at the beginning, anyone could play this game. There was no challenge, no thinking, nothing hard at all. It almost put me to sleep. The middle few levels were perfect. A little challenge, but still within the boundries, you would die a couple of times, but learn from those mistakes and know what you had to do next time, but the last few levels, grrrrr, those were Hell. I don't even think I beat the game, I would try and try and to no avail. I could not beat the last level. I would die all the time, and if there was a puzzle, it was impossible to figure out!
Controls (7/10) - The controls were probably the best thing about this game. They were responsive, and matched exactly what you wanted to do. If you pushed Y, MJ would throw a ball, if you tried to jam, MJ would jam. There was no stopping the controls until it got to jumping. Jumping was kind of a problem for me. MJ could jump so high and so far, some of the smaller, quicker jumps were nearly impossible to make. You also would look at a platform and think to yourself, ''That's way too far away for me to reach! I guess I'm stuck!'' But no, MJ can jump half-way across the screen, which is kind of scary. Other than the whole jumping thing, the controls were moderately ok.
If you already own this game like I do, haha for you. If you were looking back on this wondering if you should get it, I suggest you don't. Unless you can pick it up on ebay or at Funcoland for a few bucks, it's not worth it. It's worth a couple dollars to tell your friends you have one of the worst Nintendo games in history, that's what I use mine for!
