"Pink Panther... not sure what to say about this one"

The Pink Panther was a good movie that had absolutely nothing to do with a pink panther. However, in the opening credits, you saw a cartoon panther, and it was considered very comical, and was rather popular.
Apparently, it was popular enough to merit a TV show based on that panther, and in this case, a game on the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo. One can only expect it to be as bad as the show was, but I was blown away by how extreme that remark really is. I had never watched the show, and actually got it as a gift.

I'll start with the plot- I THINK it's supposed to be that the Pink Panther is now a movie star, and you're acting out parts in a movie. I was really confused by the whole thing, as they never tell you what's going on, they just give you a movie setting to imply the above storyline.
It's a platform game; you don't have any purpose to what you're doing besides the fact that as in all Super Nintendo platforms, you MUST get to the next stage.

As for the gameplay itself. Nintendo and Altron (who in the world is altron?) thought it would be cool to have a ''level within a level'' sort of thing going. It ends up being a very weird setup. You start out in the movie ''Honey I shrunk the pink'' during which you're in a house. Now, the people who lived in this house must've moved out, because it's completely rat infested.

Simple everyday items such as a refrigerator ice vent (whatever it's called) and books on the shelves propel you onto the set of some other movie, movies like ''Jurassic pink''. There is no resemblance to the movie they're based on, it simply allows them to give you some themed obstacles.

Now, unlike mario, you basically can't jump on anything without dying, so the whole game is spent jumping out of the way of flying meatballs or men in suits of armor.
Remember Inspector Cluzou? He's in each level as a sort of ''boss''. you don't have to kill him, but you can, and he has 20-30 hits.

Graphics were pretty good. There wasn't much data, so they could be liberal with the artwork. It's just like the show; a middle-grade cartoon look.

Sound wasn't bad. They play a Super Nintendo quality of the Pink Panther theme song in the level select level, though the other music is a bit weird. It all pretty much sounds the same with a level themed twist to it.

All in all, a bad platform. If you're desperate for a game of this type, go for it. Otherwise, stick to Mario.
