"Rampart: Fun, if that's what you're looking for..."
Rampart is a fun game, but not much else. I would recommend you try this game out. It's multiplayer, so that's a bonus.
Story: 2/10
I won’t be counting story into the final score, because that just wouldn’t be fair. This game does not have a story line, save the one you make up while your waiting for your inevitable doom. I guessing the story is just about two nations that really hate each other, and also want to destroy each other.
Graphics: 5/10
If you’re a graphics junky, turn your head and avert your gaze, you might be blinded. The graphics look as if they were designed while the programmers were playing Tetris on their break. But the one thing I did like was how the cannon balls got bigger as they flew up in the air. It’s just simply revolutionary, length, width AND depth. And don’t forget the nice head chopping screen, those are some pretty nice graphics there.
Sound/Music: 4/10
Either the music was wonderful, and disappeared into the background and blender so well that I couldn’t hear it, or the music was scarce. I’m going with the ladder. I remember some music in-between the battle screen and the build screen.
Control: 6/10
The controls in this game were unorthodox and difficult. Not to mention frustrating and aggravating. For only two buttons, they could’ve made it nicer, that’s all I’m saying. You’re cursor is slow and you can rarely get to the right spot on time.
Game Play: 4/10
The game play is a fast-paced battle, with little time to rest. Wait a minute! No it’s not; you only get to shoot boring, slow shooting cannons for 30 seconds. Then you get to build, which is very frustrating, considering that the pieces you get will NEVER be useful.
Replay Value: 8/10
Even with all of the other things I’ve said, this game is still fun to play over and over again, grab a friend and play for hours! You could come home from work all disgruntled and pop in “Rampart” and you would be lightened so much, that you’d bake a pie (True story).
Rent or Buy or Not At All: Buy
You won’t regret it! You can play this game for years to come, don’t pass up the opportunity, buddy. Run to town and knock down old ladies if you have to!
Overall: 5/10 (Average of 5.4)
Rampart is fun, but don’t get your hopes up with the intense action sequence at the beginning.
