"Gamera didn't deserve this Shame"

I like Gamera. I like Godzilla better, but Gamera is cool. I picked up this old Japanese Gamera game for the heck of it. Man I wasn't thinking. I can't read Japanese! My friend helped me out there. I still got by, though it was hard. I figured the game out. It wasn't too great. Just another failed attempt to make a Japanese Monster into a game. Some of these kind of games are good, but not this one.

Graphics- Okay to Bad. The Maps are just horrible. When you go into view mode it's okay though. There isn't really anything impressive. Gamera looks okay. Gyaos looks okay too. The animations aren't really good. Gamera shoots a fireball at a city, then the city just turns into a pile of rubble. You don't see it crashing or anything, it just is like that way from no where.

Sound- Real Bad. Gamera barely sounds like Gamera. The music is bad. Gyaos doesn't sound like Gyaos that much either. The effects of the tanks shooting and such aren't real thrilling either. There really is a lack of sound in the entire game. There's a lot of places that need sound in which no sound is present. It's annoying.

Game-Play- Okay at times, but not great. The story is: Gamera is attacking. Delay him until you can escape. Later Gamera starts fighting Gyaos. That is about it . The game is overhead strategy game. You build units from your base and survive as long as you can. You build tanks, planes, and send bombs to stop Gamera and such. Sometimes it takes timing. It isn't real fun though. At times I get a grin from Gamera walking over a tank or something. You can look into view mode in which you see Gamera battling a Tank or such. It's neat to a degree, then it just gets old. Your unit's path is set by the arrows you mark, so you have to choose an efficient path. Overall the game just leaves with a big yawn.

In conclusion, this game isn't so hot. Gamera has been disgraced. If you're a Gamera fan and can read Japanese, pick this up in the import shop for a few bucks. Just don't expect anything real great. For a very little Fun Factor, I give Gamera for Super Nintendo a 4/10.
