"It seems like the producer managed to snag a copyright on an interesting name..."
I was browsing through a list of classic SNES games that I haven't played, and this game's name caught my eye. Air= Flying, Calvary= Tanks. Or at least thats what I thought this game was about... Unfortunately, this game doesn't have flying tanks, it has helicopters. I sure was disappointed. I didn't have to play this game long to know that there wasn't much else to it.
Sound: 5/10
The sound was reasonable. The title screen had a catchy song, but the sound when playing the game was just annoying. All I could hear were explosions, gunfire, helicopter noises, a boring background song beating, and someone repeatedly yelling "MAYDAY!!!". Thank God for volume control...
Game play: 5/10
This game is a flight sim during a war in three different places. In single player, you are one helicopter that takes on an army of tanks using missiles and machine guns. The tanks never move and just sit there and shoot you. In two player mode, You can take on an army of tanks together, or you can fight each other (While surprisingly, taking on an army of tanks at the same time). These helicopters can move anywhere on the map and adjust their height to avoid gunfire. The missions were all repetitive and very hard. Destroying an army of tanks is very hard. It's fun to fight each other on two player versus, but other than that, the gameplay is boring. You rarely get an adrenaline rush from playing this game.
Graphics: 7/10
The graphics are fairly good for SNES. everything is 3D, except the enemies. You can rotate your helicopter and view the world from all angles. When you kill an enemy, they make permanent explosion marks. Overall, I liked the graphics.
Overall: 5/10
Well, if you are really bored and want to try a combat flight sim, this is the game. I'd personally stay away from this game if I were you though.
