"The real mystery here is why this game exists"

Scooby Doo Mysteries – Yet another badly made video game based on a cartoon or movie. I absolutely love Scooby Doo and when I was growing up I always watched him. But really, Scooby Doo Mysteries has got to be one of the worst video games I've ever played. Scooby Doo Mysteries is hardly a good game. In fact, it was pretty bad. I shall explain why. First, there is like 3-4 levels in this game. That is it. While I will admit the levels are long, it still doesn't make up for it. You play as Scooby and Shaggy and you must find clues and set traps and do all that jazz like on the show. Some of the clues are really hard to find and impossible without a strategy guide. It was pretty hard to control Scooby and Shaggy, you fell a lot and it was hard to get yourself onto certain platforms. You also have a “Fright Meter” which I guess acts as your life. Scooby and Shaggy get hurt a lot because they easily get scared. I know they were trying to be like the show but come on, the things you'll lose health for in this game are nothing short of ridiculous. Scooby is useful because you need him to snuff out the clues. This game also contains some min games but they suck and aren't fun. These mini games may include trying to create a large sandwich or whacking a monster. Oh, you thought there was more. Not in this game! Zoinks!

Graphically… I guess it was slightly below decent. For starters, Daphne is all wrong, she isn't supposed to be wearing red clothing, she's supposed to be wearing purple clothing. Good gravy. The backgrounds were okay I guess but they were still slightly below average. But there are only four levels so it isn't like there's a lot to see I the visual department. This game has like 1-3 different tones and all of them get repetitive after like 2 minutes. This was the same music as the show except watered down a lot. I seriously was forced to turn down the volume before I was forced to lodge a stick in my ear. Awful music. The sound sucks too. You can't understand what they're saying and the sounds don't even make sense. When Scooby and Shaggy get scared, it sounds more like a gorilla thumping it's chest. As I said, the game is very difficult. I couldn't get past the second level without a guide. This game let you loose without giving you any help. It was not fun at all. I must say that this game has no replay value seeing as how it is no fun to play the first time around. This game is the type of game you would rent so hopefully you would never think of replaying it. Scooby Doo is a decent cartoon and the movies are good but this game just sucks. It was the first Scooby Doo game made but it was pretty bad, to put it bluntly. I was eager when I bought this for 15 dollars but I look back and I say, "what a waste" This game was very frustrating and I was severely disappointed. There was also a good amount of glitches, like this game wasn't tested before it was released. For shame... This game is bad and you should stay away from it and leave Scooby Doo to the T.V. world.
