"Amazing racing adventure"
Anticipation: I really didn't anticipate this game, in fact, I hate racing games I just randomly got this for Christmas and loved it.
Graphics: Some good tracks here and there, nothing that really catches your eye. I also liked the backgrounds of each country; they are different and feature the country's landmark. For example, in the Italy level the leaning tower of Pisa is located in the background. The car models are nice and the engine parts and brakes etc are fairly detailed. Not much else, some tracks look the same which gets repetitive.
Graphics: 7/10 Nice backgrounds but to many repetitive tracks.
Game play: The game play is fairly basic, press the Y button to accelerate and the B and Y buttons are the brakes. If you are doing manual L and R cycle through different gears. A button is nitro; this is where some strategy comes in. Should you save all your Nitros to get a major boost towards the end or should you boost ahead at the beginning and hold your lead? You have 6 nitros at the beginning of the race and you can pick up extras littered on the road.
You can also buy new car parts with money that you get from picking up money off the road or winning at the end of races. This ranges from a faster engine to new side armor to stop you from spinning out and some nitro upgrades. Before some races you have to buy the right tires because it might be raining or snowing on the race track. This is a great idea. The actual racing part of this game is very fun, but I did have a problem with the AI they seemed to catch up to you constantly which made the game harder and partly frustrating. Good thing you only have to stay in 6th place to progress (even though you won't get that much money for placing so low). Combining the new upgrades with the actual races is a very fun experience. It's also funny when a little speech bubble comes out of your car saying "slow down" or "eat my dust". There are half-of-logs laid out on the road used as ramps, doesn't add much but it is still fun. There are also poles sticking out of the road, the poles get annoying but it does add a good challenge.
Game play: 9/10 Great racing all around, the other cars get annoying after awhile
Story: Not really a story, you just are trying to become the best racer in the world it's not bad, and its not good.
Story: 6/10 Not much here, but that's ok.
Replayability: Not much here either, beat the game, and then do it with a friend. The game takes a really long time to complete 16 countries. I'm thinking about...15-30 hours of game play. Luckily, when you beat a country you get that password to use later on.
Replayability: 9/10 The game takes awhile to beat and is enjoyable.
Sound: Nothing but the basic "vroom-vrooms" and the generic "beep-beeps" the intro music isn't exactly aw-inspiring but it is something to laugh at and have fun with. Overall, the music and sounds are average but good enough to keep you in the game
Sound: 6/10 A whole lot of ok and a little bad
Overall: I had an awesome time playing this game! I highly recommend you buy it. The opponent racers are annoying but you learn to forgive them. SNES games are so cheap now just buy this one, you wont regret it. Kiss Mario Kart, good-bye!
9/10
