"This game has potential, but suffered major flaws"

I heard this game among my peers. I heard that Capcom sued this game due to the fact that gameplay and their style is almost identical to SF2. I decided to try out this game. There are several games I played that are similar to Street fighter 2. This game had a lot of potential. But, it was cut short in the end. This would've gotten a lot better if they had more originality.

Story: N/A
Well, it is a fighting game. So there is not much to review there.

Gameplay: 4/10
The control scheme is pretty good. It's not very sluggish and clunky as some of the bad fighting games out there. However, it didn't had much innovation because the control scheme is identical to street fighter 2. There are 3 modes in this game: acrade mode, survival and Versus. The arcade and versus mode is one of your typical fighting staple. Survival mode however is not really a surival mode at all. It's more like team battle. The AI in this game is very poor. Even if you put it in hard, you can beat the game by doing a lot of jump-in's and sweeps. That is basically your key to finish the game.

Their moves and its special effects are almost identical to SF2 except with different names. The character roster lacked originality. Mizoguchi, Jean, Marthorius and Samchay are counter part to Ryu, Vega/guile, Zangief and sagat. Even their moves are similar to their counter parts. Despite of their looks, I find Ryoko, Fei-lin and Lee very original, due to their special moves. Probably the most original thing I can think of is when they are dizzy. If you hit them in a certain spot such as the bandanna, boots or the armor, you'll get them dizzy. You can indicate it if the item flashes like crazy.

Graphics and visuals: 7/10
The graphics seems fairly good for the SNES, though it is a bit pixelly. But that doesn't matter much for people who aren't anal over graphics. The presentation is similar to SF2. For example when you win the match it had the familar scene to SF2. Another one is when you choose your characters. It is somewhat looks the same except without the world map. The graphics is somewhat competent for the SNES.

Sounds: 5/10
The sound and the music is mediocre. The music is fairly decent. It suits the enviroment pretty well. The ones that suffered the most is the sound effects. The voice overs are very muffled. In certain characters, you may laugh the way the character says their special moves.

Replayability: 6/10
There is not much to do, due to lack of modes. You can play this game with a friend to make the game more exiting.

Rent or buy
If you are curious about this game, then this is a must rent. You can try to emulate if this not avalible in your local area.

Final word
This game had lots of potential. This game would've have gotten a better score if they added some creativity and originality. This is one of the examples not to make a game almost identical to well known games out there.
