Earthworm Jim

"This also could've been called Andy Asteroids you know."

Now we have a worm as our hero?What is the world coming to.It's coming to better gaming is what it's coming to because Earthworm Jim is a very fun game that many people thought of as 'weird'.Earthworm Jim is made by two companies that I have never heard of.The companies are Shiny and Interactive and they are responsible for releasing this great game of absolute wackiness.To put it in a clearer view for you,it's like Super Mario with a worm and the wackiest things on an SNES game(that I've played)and also Earthworm Jim is a worm who whips his body at opponents.Earthworm Jim isn't a superb game,but it's fun.A lot of things could've been improved.Now for the rest of the review.....

CHALLENGE:(8/10)Before I tell you about the game just be prepared to get mad really quick at your controller.I can't even say how many times I got mad at this game.The difficulty is bearable,but there are so many things that are very hard to do.I haven't explained it yet,but jumping and hooking your head onto a hook is kind of hard depending on what the level is like.Your probably saying 'what is this guy talking about????,' but don't worry because I will explain the whole game of Earthworm jim soon so the you'll understand what I'm saying.Anyways the difficulty is pretty tough and you have to be a good gamer to not throw down your controller and quit on this because you can't pass the first level.If you're good at action games then you'll love the challenge.

GAMEPLAY:(9/10)Earthworm Jim is an absolute crazy game with crazy bosses,crazy attacks and even crazy levels.Let's start from the beginning.You are Earthworm Jim and you start out in New Junk City.The level as in most of the levels in the game are hard.The levels also are very long.In my synopsis I said''This could also be called Andy Asteroids.''Well if anyone has gotten far into EJ they'd know that after every level you do a level called Andy Asteroids.This is kind of a mini game(as is the snot fight)where you race against some weird looking thing named Psykrow,I think,in space and you have all these asteroids coming at you.The life is in atoms and Jim loses a lot of life when he gets hit.It's out of 100 atoms and Jim loses about 10 atoms when he gets hit.In Earthworm Jim Jim carries a gun with him and can get new ammo and a lot of ammo for the original gun.EJ also uses his head in a different way.He whips his own head at enemies to hurt them or he could whip his head onto a hook and swing like Spiderman.The enemies in EJ are very weird.Most of these enemies are probably made up,but that's not a bad thing.Atleast unlike a lot of games Earthworm Jim is very creative and that is the reason why many people gave up on Earthworm Jim.Either it was too hard or they thought it was stupid.Both those reasons are no reason to give up on any game.There are a lot of levels in the game,so EJ lasts very long. I can't really explain much about Earthworm Jim because it's a game where you have to see it to know about it. After each level you can say GROOVY as much as you want by tapping buttons. There's not much else to say about Earthworm Jim except that it is a very fun action game.

CONTROLS:(8/10)The controls are pretty smooth and easy to handle throughout the game.Sometimes in EJ the controls can get annoying. An example would be if there is a far hook and you have to jump far and press the whip button in the air.The controls overall aren't too bad and easy to learn.A part of Earthworm Jim that may seem weird is that Jim fires his original gun very fast.Just like in many other action games or shotting games where you have a gun you have to hold down the fire button.Jim jumps good and is easy to get over large obstacles and the whip is very useful and lethal.The top buttons aren't used so the buttons to use won't confuse you.This is a big reason why Earthworm Jim is fun.

GRAPHICS:(8/10)Earthworm Jim looks pretty good.The graphics are nice,crisp and clear.The feeling of the game through the graphics doesn't seem silly,but depressing because most of the levels in EJ are dark colored and the levels itself are in unhappy places.The backgrounds for each level is great.Nothing special, but they are much higher than the other games on SNES in terms of quality. Everything is colored nice and as I said above the color gives off a certain mood towards the game.The characters are nicely colored and look nice like a cartoon.Overall the graphics are very nice and another big factor making EJ a good game.

MUSIC/SOUND:(8/10)I liked some of the music in some levels.The music in Earthworm Jim is totally different then any other game.it contains a mixture of country,orchestra,classic,rock,and elelvator music :).I as other people really enjoyed the music in the level ''What the Heck''.It is orchestra like an evil thing or of a devil(I forgot what it was called)with elevator music.I also like the music in New Junk City.Some levels had music that wasdn't appealing to me,but nice.The sounds are pretty crazy.Considering the fact this game is crazy it means there are a bunch of crazy sounds.I can't even explain the sounds but they are weird.Blops or yeash or something else is what EJ has.Both sound and music is really really good,but not perfect.I like the fact that the music and sounds are clear and unique so you can expect the unexpected in the next level.

REPLAY:(5/10)I only played EJ again after a long time.I didn't play it again and again after beating it. Unfortunately, Earthworm Jim is a one time for the fun type game.It does get fun if you play it again,but not right after you beat the game.The challenge itself makes the game less fun to play it over.If Ej had a high replay value this game would probably be perfect.

OVERALL: (8/10)Actually Earthworm Jim is a high 8,but it is still an 8.I really like Earthworm Jim and I hope they continue the series onto another system because it's the year 2000 and I don't think EJ3 will come out on Super Nintendo,but now I'm getting a little off topic.Earthworm Jim is a must have game.Go to a pawn shop or 'steal'(j/k) from your friend.Actually don't steal but try and get it somehow because this is one helluva game that is a definite must have.
