Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge

Review by WrestlingRPGfan

"My Spider-Sense says get this game!"

If you are a fan of Marvel Comics, you will love Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge. This game has everything you love about Spider-Man and the X-Men.

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are decent enough. They are plain and simple, but what can you really expect from a 2-D sidescroller? For a Super Nintendo sidescroller, I think the graphics are good. However, Wolverine kind of blends into the background on the first level, so it is kind of hard to see him.

Sound: 7/10
The sound in this game is pretty darn good. The music itself is excellent, especially for the Super Nintendo. I have always enjoyed the music in this game. I think it is without a doubt one of its highlights. However, the sound effects are not to good. I cringe everytime I hear Wolverine extend or retract his claws. And the sound of Cyclops shooting his optic blasts are just downright annoying.

Replay: 8/10
I have had this game for about five years. I still manage to play it every single day. The replay value will depend on how much you like comic books. If you like comic books, especially Spider-Man or X-Men, then you could play this game forever. If you don't like comic books, then you probably won't play this game often. If you don't like comic books, don't buy the game!

Controls: 10/10
The controls in this game are very simple and very comfortable. You don't need a lot of skill to execute a move. The controls are unique to each character, but you will have no trouble learning them. If you do, then consult your local mental institution.

Gameplay: 9/10
This game has great gameplay as a whole. The mini-puzzles in this game are quite perplexing the first time through. It took me a few weeks to beat the first level. Don't laugh. Most of the levels provide some sort of challenge: whether it's the boss or the puzzles. In some cases, like the first level for Cyclops, contains both. The levels are huge, so you will have to play this game for a long time. Also, some levels have, as I call it, a ''silent timer.'' For example, in Gambit's level, a huge ball chases you throughout the whole level. So you need to complete the level quickly.

So, if you like Spider-Man, the X-Men, or both, then this game is for you. Go out and buy this game. It'll be worth it.
