"Finish This Game! Joking, Don't Waste Your Time"

My little brother's friend brought this game over. He said it was fun. Being a fan of some more recent Mortal Kombats, I decided to try it out. So, I pulled out my old SNES, plugged it in and tried to play a game. I tried to enjoy it, I really did. I just couldn't. I don't know why people enjoy this game so much. I guess part of it might be that I'm not really a fighting game fan...but I don't know this game wasn't as entertaining as everyone said it is.

It's got a little less then decent multiplayer, but it's better then nothing. That is the only part of the game that is even remotely entertaining. The one-player mode is horrible and the SNES controller just isn't cut-out to play fighting games. The move execution is horrible and I found my controller not responding multiple times. The game is extremely difficult, especially towards the last fight. At first it's overly easy and there really isn't an in-between. The game goes to extreme difficulties because the controls don't really respond right, which makes executing combos a difficult task. You pretty much punch, kick, and "finish them." Oh, yeah you also can choose your character!

You have to partake in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Which is the story for nearly every single Mortal Kombat game. The tournament is a tournament to save the world. Which you do in every Mortal Kombat game. There is a plot twist at the end! Got you, there isn't.

The graphics are slightly more interestin compared to the other SNES games. The characters are very detailed for a SNES game and look cool. There is a large variety of characters to choose from, which makes the game a little more enjoyable. The soundtrack is pretty alright. The "Finish Him!" is classic. The blood looks way too fake and I think shouldn't even be included into the game. The fatalities are awesome. I had to look on the internet to figure out how to do them, however.

The game is very short. There are three different modes you can play in single player. Each one has a little more battles for you to fight. You only get five credits, so the more battles, the bigger chance you have of losing. There is little replayablility, but there is. The multiplayer is the only entertaining part of the game.

My final recommendation for this game? Get the newer versions. The multiplayer in the new games are way cooler and there are way better ways to kill off your opponent. This game would be a gem at its time but it's 2006 now and the game has just burned out. A great game if you're a fighing game fan, if you're not then stay away. You will probably be able to find it since it's a very popular series. I wouldn't search it out, however. Unless you're trying to make a collection. Like I said, the newer versions are out and I wouldn't even rent this game. Fighting games are almost always improved by their sequels and you should get the updated ones. If you choose not to, then that's your problem. You might be able to find this at a garage sale or something. A pretty good game, actually, but just before the times.
