Chests, checking grass, killing monsters. Apart from specific chests, your chances of finding medals are completely random, and it is possible (although uncommon) to find it again from the same place if you leave the stage and return later. I find the fastest way to "farm" for medals is to walk the road on the very first stage to the cave, checking every blade of grass. When I reach the cave, I open the menu, select "return to town", repeat. Sometimes I get zero medals, sometimes I get seven in one trip.

statusI just saw your submessage~ Minimedal is just a name for the item you can collect. It isn't a reward, its more like a special coin that operates as money for the mini-medal king, in the cave behind the town (looks like a cat). You trade them for rare items.
before the game, go to the first level and check every bush before the cave select return to town repeat to get loads of mini medals. after the game, defeat king latem to get the following things= easy exp and gold coins rank B(3000 to 7999)=3 mini medals, rank A(8000 to 11999)=1 gold bar+3 mini medals, rank S(12000 to 17999)=1 orichalum+ 1 gold bar+3 mini medals, rank X(18000+)=2 orichalum+2 gold bar+6 mini medals+yaggdrasil dew or yaggdrasil leaf.
