Wii Sports
Review by Bass260
"Nintendo does it again"
In every new Nintendo Wii console, comes the game Wii Sports. It is not a game, merely a demo of how the wiimote works and fun games young children wouldn't get bored of. But the game tends to get on the boring side after a bit. And it has to offer; Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf, and Boxing. There is also an additional Practice Mode, and Fitness Mode, but will get into that later. The game adds a nice touch for it coming for free, but is it worth playing?
Game Play 10/10
Ok the Game Play is good. Well trust me, it's a fun side game. There's usually something to do, and if you have friends over you could play with them. Now starting with Tennis. Tennis is one of those games anyone can enjoy. Dare I say a rip off of Pong, but still enjoyable. You can do forehands and backhands, and serves. It's fun with a friend or two, but doubles gets confusing. Now Baseball. Baseball is one of those games not everyone would want to play. If you are an older person, it tends to hurt your arm sometimes. And Baseball is too hard to play for a younger child. Now all you do it hit and run. There are CPU's that catch the balls, and you run by yourself without pressing any buttons. So all you do is hit, and throw. Bowling. Bowling can be enjoyed by anyone. Me, my sister, and my mother find that really fun to play together. And this game actually takes aim. You can aim your guy, or change angles. Anyone can pick up and just play bowling, this one is just like bowling, Now Golf. Ok Gof has some issues with controls. Only really hardcore-gamers/golfers would get it. The power. Say you try not doing too much power, it goes crazy and does a lot of power. And that's really all to golf. I'd rate that the worst mode. Lastly, Boxing, In boxing you need a nunchuk too. There's not much too this. You just simply throw punches. You can V,S, friends which is pretty fun. KNOCK-OUT! Now there's Practice mode. There there is 15-minigames. 3 per sport. Say you want to hit home-runs, well that's here. Target Practice in Tennis? Strike Outs in Bowling? Just hitting the punching bag? In this mode you can come and hone your skills, and then show them off to your friends. Now there's one more, Fitness mode. There you do a variety of practice mini-games and get a score of how good you did after. Except it' in age. 20 is the best, 50 is the worst. Well that's it for the modes.
Graphics 5/10
Ok there not as bad as everyone says they are, but there pretty bad. I mean like a kid could enjoy the graphics, but other people won't. I know and all they didn't take much time on this games graphics, but they actually should have worked on them instead of just slapping something on.
Sound 5/10
Low again. Like I said before, they needed to work more on this, instead of making more modes. More too it, there's not really any sounds. There's th Sound Effects. Hitting the ball in Tennis gets annoying. And that's what you have to go through. And those sounds have to come through the wiimote to annoy us all.
Controls 10/10
Ok they were good. Even though golf had some issues, I'm going to cut Nintendo some slack. Well heck it's a free game. The controls in Tennis are great. The controls in Baseball are good too. It sense's how hard you hit it/throw it. Bowling is good too. If you aim it, then it moves in that direction. Golf has some how hard you it it issues, and Boxing is ok, has the casual hitting low issue. All is good though.
Multiplayer 10/10
A high score. Mainly because this game can't be boring with a few friends, and the people who have siblings can always have fun. Tennis is always fun to play together, though the sounds get annoying sometimes. But heck, it's Tennis in the comfort of your home. Baseball is only two player, not much fun for more than 1 friend. Bowling is 4 players. Wahoooo! Now you can all bowl together, for the price of nothing! Golf gets a bit boring on the multiplayer side, but it's fun to play sometimes. And Boxing, Only 2 players. Can be fun though, beating the life out of your little friend over there. Even practice has multiplayer, so you can play mini-games together. More like try to get the best score out of each one.
Replayability 8/10
Multiplayer gets a score higher. Playing by yourself isn't much fun, and after awhile is really boring. With friends though, it's a good game to play. You can do lots with friends, but your limited by yourself, just facing those idiot CPU's over and over again....but you can always invite as friend over to play. And if you're lucky and have a sibling, then your in heaven.
Overall 8/10
Overall it gets an 8/10. Since it's free, that gets it score up a bit. The games fun to play at certain times with friends and family, but lacks some stuff. What I'm saying is it's a good game, but it will get boring after a bit of mastering and showing off your friends the skills you earned. Well I hope you enjoyed the review, and thank you for reading it. Have a fun time if you decide to get the game.
