Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Review by Mashnuts
"I hate this game..... I am officially an adict."
Let me start by saying this: Do not overlook this game because its is a DBZ game! I myself used to be a great DBZ fan, but the hype went away. Even so, I couldn't resist this game! It puts the Wii's potential at full extent! Motion sensor couldn't have worked bette for this game, And the addition of potaras makes this game even more worth buying! Now, on with the ratings of each seperate category.
Graphics: 8/10
What were you expecting? This game is cel-shaded, which takes much more skill. Besides, would you really want to see what a real life-ike Goku? I shrudder at the thought. And with the addition of the collapsing buildings and destroyable objects, what can I say? Just brilliant.
Gameplay: 10/10
Amazing! Having to wave the numchuk, the wiimote, and doing lots of other waving/button mashing combinations makes this game even more thrilling. And with every character having his own unique fighting style and techniques, this game would be the best release if it weren't for Zelda. An the ability to destroy and change the environment really makes things interesting.
Story: 9/10
Though it is a great story, I'm sure many of us have watched the cartoon in our childhood, so this is like watching it and knowing what's gonna happen next. It would've been an 8/10, had it not been for one little detail: adding to the story by merging the Dragonball movies with the DBZ - GT story. Yep, they added some movies to the story. And the way they put them each into the exact time period they should go in is fantastic.
Unlockables: 10/10
Woah! Just woah! When I found out there was 120+ characters, I almost had a heart attack of amazement! And as if that wasn't enough, they even added tons of "potaras" (which upgrade your characters) that are just waiting to be gathered. And as if that wasn't enough, they made these potaras mergable, which can result in getting you a new character or a new potara. Though not a lot of stages to unlock, you can always change the environment with e Spirit Bomb!
Soundtrack/Sound effects: 6/10
Meh, what can I say? In all the past DBZ games I've played, none of them have had outstanding music or sound effects. This one is no exception. Not much to say on this one except that I'm pretty sure they could haved added better music. =/
In conclusion, I'd just like to say that this game should not be overlooked just because you hate DBZ or something like that. If you have any comments, feel free to contact me in the boards or e-mail. Any feedback is appreciated. ^_^ Total was 8.6, rounding to 9.
