Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Review by Lans91
"A great fighting game."
Having played other Dragon Ball Z fighting games in a friend's house, I must say this one is better, and you don't even need to be a fan to love this game.
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics are cell-shaded, and that style just fit this game very good, it almost seems that you are watching an episode. The character select screen also uses the cell-shaded graphics.
Another good thing is that when your character or opponent start to get low on health or get hit a lot, the graphics will change a bit to resemble the damage done(some characters with armor will have it break in some areas, etc.)
Sound: 8/10
There is some good music that you can choose before going in a fight, but there is also some that just don't fit for fighting. The options can be customized to use the Japanese voice actors if you want.
Controls: 9/10
The controls might seem problematic and hard at the start, but after some time playing, they will seem very easy to use.
The only problem here is the somewhat big learning curve of the controls.
Story: 10/10
The story follows the story from DBZ and DBGT anime, and it also uses some "what if" stories and the movies from DBZ and DBGT.
There are some cut-scenes in the story mode(those are not the ones that appear after and before each fight, they appear in certain episodes only), and, while not completely resembling the anime part, they are decent enough, especially the first one.
Gameplay: 10/10
There are a variety of modes, with some being only for 1 player. The multi-player mode got a variety of modes in it too, like 1vs1 fight, a 2vs2 fight, and an mode where called "free battle" where you can have at max a 5vs5 fight, but it can be customized to even a 1vs5 fight.
You can also customize characters with items you can purchase or get in story mode to increase a certain character stat(this could make it stronger or have more health).
The only problem could be the somewhat small number of stages you can fight on, but the big number of fighters outweights this problem.
Replay value: 8/10
This game is even great in single player, and if you can bring friends to play, the replay value could increase a lot.
